Does anyone working at Onyx care about the patient???? As an oncologist, I find the greed about money on this board troubling, especially in this economy. If the only positive thing you are looking for in a job is the $$$ and that you have more "things" than the next guy, you will never be happy anywhere. Maybe it's time for some of you to re-evaluate your values and priorities if you want me to find you credible as you try to "sell" me carfilzomib. I haven't met my rep yet, but you can be sure I have some serious concerns about your agenda with my patients already.
I’m concerned for your patients and their families that you display such poor judgment by not only visiting a drug rep blog (why???) but that you actually take your valuable time to post on it! What other poor decisions are you making? You also showed poor judgment by painting anyone in this company with one broad brush as “greedy sale reps”. I hope you are new to Café Pharma but in most cases and most likely in this case this is no more than a handful of reps talking smack on each other. The topic of this thread is ‘Working at Onyx/Sales’ why would you expect it to be patient centric? The absence of talking about patients does not mean we don’t care about the patients it just that was not the topic of the thread. Most, if not all of us, are caring people and like this line of work because even though it is sales we are selling something that is at least helping some people. It’s not like we are selling cigarettes! I’m shocked that you think people need to re-evaluate their values and priorities because they are arguing about fair pay and equality at the company they work for, ESPECIALLY IN THIS ECONOMY! Why is that wrong? You sound quite self-righteous and very self-indulgent. Why don’t you judge the rep that visits you as the person they are and not from a few postings on a drug rep blog, that just by pure statistical chance the person visiting you never read this blog and is most unlikely to be any of the posters? Maybe it’s time for you to stop stereotyping and making quick and uninformed judgments about people you never met. “Our agenda”??? Our agenda is to provide you with information, help with access to the drug, reimbursement, help your staff with AE mgt, be a conduit for you and our medical personnel just to mention a very few. There is “no agenda” other than that!
This to me is the funniest thing you posted:
“As an oncologist, I find the greed about money on this board troubling, especially in this economy”.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Oh so you must be delivering care to all your patients pro bono! Look it’s not like you are working the fee clinic 7 days a week in Haiti! You must not take a penny to do talks or be a consultant, or go to an ad board or to do a study, and the list goes on and on, but I’m sure you gladly give you’re insights for free or give any earnings to charity!
Oncologists were the greediest of the greedy in the healthcare system and you have only yourselves to blame for the economic crunch you are feeling. I’m old and can tell you billing Medicare 5K for 1K worth of bleo is exactly what started the ASP+6% business. Then what did the oh so altruistic oncologist do? Make money on the spread of GCSF by pitting two companies against each other through the most corrupt contracts every written up in this industry! Or now with all the oral agents, “Well I don’t like to use oral agents because I can’t make ANY money off of those, at least with the infusions I can make a couple of extra bucks”!!! – Even at the inconvenience to the patient. Again one last chance to make some money! For the last ten years all any of us have been hearing is how you can’t scratch out a living anymore as an oncologist! FF to today and now you are selling your clinics left and right to USO or the local hospital …not for better patient care or access or anything that you rationalize from a patient perspective but for the pure purpose of putting more money in your pockets!
But hey it’s all about the patients for you I’m sure…my apologies, you’re probably the exception to the stereotyping I just did…
