Why Are They Hurting Us Like This?

There is value with reps in this business.

The value question is should a rep be paid a base of 125 - 130 for soft sales goals verses traditional medical sales. Too many part time reps have entered into this business for the wrong reasons. Ultimately high pay with little accountability. We all know this is changing...

It will take many years to recover.

While I agree this approach is the industry standard M.O., and it is now GNE's, or more correctly known as Roche, this is not the historical culture of Genentech and it's not the vision of most employees. The Roche banker mentality and their ilk (B. Anderson) have slowly and methodically killed the goose that laid the golden eggs for years.

GNE has prided itself as being a great place to work and has been listed in the Fortune ratings for many years. Those days are over. R&D is a shell of its former self; that's why Roche has to acquire other companies, they don't create anything anymore. Today it's no different than Novartis, AZ, Pfizer, and Bayer. Anyone that tries to tell you differently is living in the past.

Sorry for those impacted by "transformation" (i.e. layoffs) but in fact every CS I know with rare/orhan/small biotech experience is making a concerted effort to exit this dumpster-fire ASAP.
