Why Are They Hurting Us Like This?

I came over to launch Ocrevus and be part of a new start up Sales Force. I was very successful with my old company. I can remember how happy I was to come to work for one of the best companies in our industry. I was part of the most successful launch in Genentech’s history.

I am now devastated. I am the bread winner for my large family. I am now very depressed, and am trying to figure out what action to best take financially care of my family. I have lost all faith in Genentech, and am confused why they are treating us like garbage. After todays call, and all the patronizing comments from Senior Leadership ( who are all keeping their jobs ) I am totally lost, and even more depressed.

Good luck to all the great CS’s in this franchise. It was great meeting and working with all of you. God Bless

I thought I wrote this. Same for me.

Sorry to hear this. We just went through it in BioOncology. It think it is the tip of the iceberg in Pharma across the board. I was laid off late last year and probably will look for another line of work entirely. Right now, I'm enjoying my severance package.

Over hired in 2016 for 'share of voice' blitz while all the while knowing the down sizing would come second half 2018....no more days of legacy reps on bloated forces detailing tx that are standard of care...see Rituxan Glory Days...

Been in SSF long term strat meetings...everything here is preplanned 3-5-7 years out including using and discarding people. Example = HER2 in 2017...wanted SOV so kept mirror field size alive while JAZZ was recruiting for competitor. Bait on hook was "more work than people"...then hung them out and gutted AFTER compedators launched. SSF or self serving and not 'right minded' people...field is nothing more than a necessary evil to them...

Bottom line we are all free agents as loyalty traded for stability is like chasing a ghost...

Genentech should be absolutely ashamed treating families like this. They blow smoke up our arse about caring for patients, but what about those that sacrifice for the success of Ocrevus? Aren’t your own employees important too? I know the answer. Genentech is made up of hypocrites and everyone knows they don’t care about patients or families. They care only about dollars. Ocrevus is a multibillion dollar cash cow, and they think spending a couple million per year on salaries of 16 people generating that revenue will have any effect on the bottom line? Genentech sickens me.

Whoa, 16 CS’s were let go on Friday? That’s awful and so indicative of the careless perspective management has for the field all to line the pockets of the Slimmy Swiss
Best wishes to those impacted

Not yet. They are making the entire franchise wait 3 weeks until they tell them. We were just given the number after Leadership talked about the most successful launch in Genentech History , thanked, and then told we need to be leaner after generating a billion dollars in revenue. Awesome waiting for the axe to fall and not knowing who’s head is about to be removed. Compassionate and caring huh?

Shades of BOLD. Strung that out for months with a lot of double-dealing behind the scenes. So sorry for the Ocre sales force and people who recently joined GNE. It's not the same company from even a few years ago. All was fine when the money flowed but put a little pressure on people, (R, A, & H patent loss looming), and the true colors show. Truly sad. This is not what our founders' envisioned.

The reason they are hurting you is that Senior Leadership lacks both class and integrity. It was obvious listening to A.M., A.VB, and KP patronize all of us with their total BS.

Ever heard of Personal Responsibility? It’s not Genentech’s job to take care of your family. This is a result of the Welfare, Far Left State.

Come on! I'm in another franchise and been with GNE for many years and have never seen anything like this. When you started with GNE did you assume it was a year-to-year contract? Don't think so.

Oh come on? Once again, no one owes you anything. Pull yourself up by the bootstraps and stop looking for a handout. Be thankful you had a job.

Dude, stop trying to get a rise out of people. youre warped in the head and getting your kicks off stuff like this is just plain sick. There is NO handout or free lunch. These people paid their dues and then some. Not to mention leaving great jobs for this. Your comments are sad and pathetic. Like the earlier poster stated, this wasn’t a contract job or year to year. No one would have taken the job under that pretense. No one.

Look up the definition of an At Will Employee. Keep the emotions out of it. Read your employment agreement.
