Why are there so many reps and still so many diabetes managers in one territory

So five reps calling on same docs is no problem???Huh???!?!?!? This is real bloat, dont you get it, evryone in your geography is a competitor. BMS could reduce headcount by 60% and not even see the difference in sales. The more reps , the less job security.

too many reps is the biggest problem!!!!! i see layoffs in the future!

This is happening in oncology. There are currently 3 in a POD right now with three additional institutional reps overlapping each territory. Now there is an expansion going on for the PD 1 and it is frightening me how we may be headed to realignment soon. AKA many will lose their jobs in the wonderful economy

Can't bank on job security with less reps, because more physicians are closing doors to reps. 45% of physicians in U.S. don't see reps!! Who ya gonna call on when the docs are saying going away!!!!!

Don't forget you have an AZ co promote out there too....so that's more reps still, and AZ has publicist contract reps too.....it's the freaking laughing stock.

Please - somebody stop the madness! DS1-2-3-4, and now a 'specialty' division, all with different DBM's. 5 managers in one territory/geography must end.

Well wait! It gets better! Now we have The Summit Team - a new Publicis team selling Onglyza and KXR along with DS4???? And the sample dropper people will also be in the field???? The CSR's or whatever they're called? Are they out of their minds???

What is this Summit you talk of?
Have heard nothing in the field.
Just that all 5 divisions mentioned above will all be trained on Dapa?

Where I am at, we have the exact same number of reps as the BI/Lilly group, and also the Merck, and also the Novo. Except OUR BMS territories are LARGER.

Yes, there are a lot of diabetes reps expecially when you count them from all the companies. From a competitive standpoint, we don't have any more reps than anyone else. Quit yer bitchin. If you all think we don't need that many reps, take a hard look at your sales results prior to the additions. Did you keep up with Januvia or Victoza? I'll just answer that for you right now----not even close.

There are plenty of reasons for this, and adding more reps sure may not fix sales, but can you really blame management for that decision? Stupid to blame management for reps having jobs.

Shut up and go sell.

Apparently that is the problem, no selling.

You're a joke!!! The diabetes franchise never took off!!!! BMS can have 10 reps calling on the same physicians each day and that's not gonna influence them to Rx. The sales model is outdated as confirmed by ZS Associates. It's broken and needs to be fixed and that's not by adding more reps. Formulary coverage is key and that's been one of the problems. This division is sunk and ain't goin no where!

Agreed :) :). Management will keep doing what they're doing because that's all they know to do!! Change won't come because innovation left with Hooper.
