Why are so many people leaving GSK (Viiv, VBU, USPHARMA)?

I’m sure the managers meeting taking place in Florida will be loaded with innovative & creative ways in 2022 to increase business. Things like Beat AZ, more ridelongs, stop sampling too much & create more positive tension. Thank goodness for the insight of the leadership team!

I thought it was woke training

Haha. Such high level leadership meetings. Managers and VP's here have zero talent and just repeat and modify the same things that have been done for years. Which is why the same average results occur year after year. But they will ask you 'what are you doing differently?' Humm, I don't know. Maybe I'll bring in Starbucks instead of DnD this year! Absolute clowns.

Most rep jobs should be farmed out to a contract sales force. If GSK actually has decent drugs decent drugs you could parachute a monkey into territories and have the same impact of a gsk employed rep.
Same hold true for field managers. Lets get contracted managers in at half the price. These guys are useless.
In reality field managers should have 15 reps that report to them.

This fun this week in the VBU was a Thursday afternoon diversity call where we developed our “I am..but” statement. Like I am Asian but I’m bad at math.

Then today a morning call where AVPs hyped up a big announcement about bonuses going up next year. For those classified as “7s” which is probably most of the reps it ends up that your target bonus for the year is an extra…wait for it..$1,000. You can’t make this stuff up.

This is why people leave this dumpster fire

Slap in the face! Reward the higher grade reps and account managers? What a joke.

Hyping up something that’s falling flat on your face. Leadership in the VBU is a joke just like the “big” increases in the target bonus.
Ah the good old day when our management staff encouraged and condoned selling off-label to increase bonus payouts. Kids on Paxil and Wellbutrin such a caring organization!

Anyone remember vouchers? So much fraud. RSD's and RVP's were aware and turned a blind eye. Marketing knew that top performing territories were abusing them and let it slide. People were hailed as the second coming and sent to winners circle. This is all true. That's how you embed a toxic culture. Reps who committed the crime (yes, it's a crime) believe they were the best of the best. Management treated them that way and promoted them. Unbelievable! Once leadership was made aware, they swept it under the rug. They removed vouchers from that point on but the damage was done and still remains. Toxic toxic corrupt and toxic!

They condoned selling adult psych drugs to children! Kid's suicide and violent effects! That's what they did to make themselves feel proud!

Great salary + bonus. A company vehicle. Health Benefits. A generous 401k. A week off at xmas + additional vacation. And people are leaving! Why? For all the reasons I listed, I ask again, why? No logical human being would give up something so valuable. Unless...there is poor leadership. Punitive leadership. Top down militaristic leadership. Toxicity from management. Human beings will tolerate a lot when they are making a good living. However, at some point, it's just not worth it! People are leaving and taking pay cuts. Giving up precious vacation time. That's how bad its become. Been that way for a long time and people are fed up. It's really that simple and as plain as day.

People can get all this and more at other companies and actually not have shitty products

This company has been a shithole since Dedria Connley came on board many years ago. She ruined this company with her tests and verbal assessments and it hasn’t been the same since. So sick of COCO, SOB, CBC. No telling what they payed to use this pathetic robotic sales model. No wonder AZ kicks our ass. AZ’s model is based on begging and buying and it seems to work great. Try something different GSK, like less conference calls and empowerment of sales force. What your doing doesn’t work and just irritates the Sales force to no end!

The assessments happened because GSK got caught red handed encouraging their sales force to sell dangerous psych drugs off label to pediatrics. Part of the changes for the Corporate Integrity Agreement. True it was the beginning of the end, but I take great satisfaction watching this company start to split apart in mid air. It's like a plane crash in slow motion! It will be a great day when this company is sold off in parts and ceases to exist.

Remember 20 years ago we were told at the national sales meetings that consolidation would result in there being only 3 or 4 large pharma firms and that GSK would be one of them.
I guess GSK leadership screwed up on that projection.

Haha. That’s hilarious! I’m at another pharma company now and I can tell you that GSK is a laughing stock in the industry. All due to arrogant, insecure leaders.
