Why are so many people leaving GSK (Viiv, VBU, USPHARMA)?

It seems to not matter, all business units have an exodus going on.....Viiv is more sales related but the VBU and USPHARMA are across the board - both internal and sales related.

I left because:
FLL was a micromanaging nut job
Culture consisted off back stabbing, toxic postering and full of competitive BS
No trust in VBU leadership
More money to go to a smaller biotech company
VBU leadership refusal to acknowledge the impact Covid has had on our customers our families and our business
VBU disingenuous, rah rah banter at town halls. Another example of not acknowledging the elephant in the room.
No pipeline no real strategy to recover from Covid

The company is sub-optimal in every aspect. Marketing, management, executive leadership, culture etc. Those of us that are left are miserable but at the same time laughing, barely working, not engaged, and collecting paychecks. Sad state of affairs all around.

It's a simple answer as to why so many have left and are leaving. We have had decades of a horrific corporate culture. Leaders promoted because they "tiered". Leaders promoted because they had the right chromosome. Toxic top down leadership approach with punitive punishment for things like not saying "convince" during a customer dialogue. Pure insanity! Sounds simple and sounds made up, but that's why reps have just thrown up their hands with a who gives a crap mentality. At the end of the day GSK will be spilt into two. Most likely bought or sold off in parts. Emma and the executive team will leave with massive golden parachutes. They will sit on other corporate BODs and continue to offer poor leadership advice. Hang on folks. Do the best you can. Pray for a severance package and move on to another organization.

In the end the VBU wants you to leave so that no severance packages have be handed out.
Thinning of the herd thru attrition to get right sized.
Only those who drink the juice see hope of which we all know there is no hope in this BU.

No one with half a brain will allow themselves to be managed out. Tape everything if you feel it coming your way and you are not ready to leave.

hahaha.........That is pretty funny since the leadership - Pharma, Viiv - was primarily based in RTP........and they made it a requirement to relo there for advancement......which is why I left the "Lilly Crowd" behind....
This is funny............all of the people who left in Philly are now working for the competition at Director and VP levels and kicking GSK's RTP butt in the marketplace!..............AZ ring a bell? as we take over the Respiratory market and beat you folks in Oncology!!!!

We are leaving GSK because it's not the best place to work. GSK is liking this so that downsizing is rightsizing and packages are a thing of the past. GSK is positioning itself to be sold off in divisions. If you don't see this you are blind. GSK is worth more in bits and pieces than as a whole.
