Why are good reps leaving

At a certain point the rat race gets to you. Enough is enough, I can't run around the wheel any faster or more efficiently, especially after you've taken away my cheese. I'm not a baby rodent anymore, I'm middle aged and I'm starving.

Different tenured reps have different issues. For me once I see a manager playing favorites, I lose all respect. Same goes for when brown nosing behavior is observed and confirmed by others. Then a little clique is formed.

Or 2 people of different positions are found in a compromising situation at a national meeting. Several months later you hear a lot of negative talk about the found-er. And it continues and continues until people believe what they hear even though they don't know either party. What lowlifes because clearly someone is being saboraged.

Those who know differently don't want to be involved or need their jobs. But secretly we go along, just not fully committed to believing in them.

Unfortunately people are stupid. Believe the rumors and BS without knowing the facts. Spread the disease. ... But seriously it's sometimes hard to steer clear of the traps. I don't want to know who's screwing who and I'm sure as he'll not going to tell what I do know. That just backfires and creates problems for everyone.

You've got cheese ? Have some wine. Or ham. I hear we be selling those soon. Or maybe jelly of the month club memberships. Just remember the ball began rolling downhill with the coffee....quick, catch it !

After reading this comment and the ones prior; it is no wonder why this distributor is tanking. At this point it will be impossible to keep good reps or attract good new hires.

Amen. Seriously
we're no longer customer intimate
Zone manager favoritism abounds
poor promotion rollouts
unrealistic goals

Gets you
customer confusion
Multi-tasking sales reps
no team loyalty -- everyone's out for themselves or carrying favor with the ZM.
No trust no respect.

Experience and relationships are not valued.

Yay! Chalk up another OSHA seminar. Looking for those orders to roll in.

Love the private label lifesavers ! Thing is, so does MWI. Equipment is OK, but unless it's something like an analyzer requiring ongoing consumables, it's a once and done. Mature clinics don't need much equipment at the moment.

Thank god I have long term relationships w clinics. We can roll our eyes together when I tell them they've got room to spend three times as much as they have been. Considering they've I've already grown them 20% YTD over last two and get their agency too.

Depends on how much business is NOT already coming our way, but manager of the month needs to get a grip and LEARN the real world cannot sustain that kind of growth.

Well, Hank Shine made a couple of bucks on the OSHA books. Too bad it sucked 2-3 hours out of your day you could've been out selling more profitable items.. Trying to be too many things to too many people..always a bad thing. Why do you think that's why smaller companies specialize ?

Does Pizza Hut sell paper ? Does Dunking Donuts sell furniture ? Come on, wake up management, you're killing us !!!!!!!

Goals are totally unrealistic. Everyone's out for themselves because they have no choice now. It's become us vs them, when you're constantly afraid of being fired, told to do stupid shit that clinics DO NOT WANT. Having to constantly kiss ass with bonehead who"s never satisfied..trying to sell back ordered forever products..the list goes on.

Don't forget the RM. Especially the RM. They're supposed to be your coach and support person, but not always.

Support ? Non existent. Coach ? You mean like the jackass that screams belittling phrases at children on sports teams ? I know your job sucks too some days....but stop making my life miserable and actually HELP me !!!

Don't forget we now have a new Zone Manager in the East that knows NOTHING about our business. He is going to job shadow in a clinic in Atlanta for a whole day to learn everything he needs to know. But he is Fran's friend, so he should do just fine. OMG we are screwed.

Oh I won't forget. It'll be impossible with kennel boy trying to micromanage everyone. Can't wait for the well thought out inspirational ideas that are sure to come...

A Vimago got sold. The rest of us: sell more dental. Sell more lab. Do more bdm and vpats.

Sure. Everyone needs to be shown how they can do more. Tell the vets they don't do enough. They love to hear that if only they lowered some prices or advertised more they'd get to do more procedures, add some hours to their day, spend more money and make us all happier !!
