which methods were used at Novartis to harrass you?

I worked hard for this company for over 10 years and my manager did nothing but bully me constantly. Ride alongs were so horrible I got sick everytime I knew she was coming.
Anything she could find to pick on me she did over and over.

That's just flat out harrassment. Why didn't you go see an employment attorney? Everyone has the right to work in a "safe" working environment. I would have sued her personally, taking everything she owned, then sued the company for negligence in hiring her and putting you in an "unsafe working environment". You should have taped her conversations and used as evidence.
Are you still with the company? New manager? Or is the bully gone?

I wonder if there is a common way to 'manage people out'

Having to report to individuals who were bullies and/or had mental disorders. As a manger, enduring their behavior was not as painful as watching them harass the people who reported to you. Going to HR was an exercise in futility, the rep is a weasel who is appointed by the bullies and abusers.

Ahh...you are quite the idealist...ever tried suing a Big Pharma company?? good luck...they will stall you until you go broke or crazy...it can be done, but it is a long shot at best...

small companies are a different story of course...but Big Pharma has more money than God and more power than the friggin' CIA>..

that is why they get away with all the harassment and bullying of employees...

do you think that harassment and bullying is a pattern at Novartis? It does not seem to be just isolated incidents. No trial lawyer around here?

I was asked (I can't believe I'm sharing this) to start working by 8:30 and work until 5PM; produce results; call on target physicians (why do people rob banks? 'Cause that's where the money is); try not to do anything stupid; be honest and truthful in our business. Just awful! Can I sue the company?

oops, the HR social media task force stepped into the ring. Welcome to the show.

so why sue the company when you can sue your manager?

Nope, not the HR social media. Just an employee who left Novartis, but also understood what was expected of me. While I didn't always agree with methods, I was treated well most of the time, not all of the time. It was my choice to do or not do what was expected of me.

You worked for L Ney in Ohio too???

(waits for her pets to jump in and defend her...the ones she never rode with in years)

Consider yourself lucky and/or blessed that this was all that was expected of you and that you were a valued employee. There are many others who work hard and receive very little recognition in return. I was a manager for over 20 years and most were good, the last several were not, for me and my direct reports. HR rep was a circus act.
