Where do we go from here. I had a good run here, and wont make the kind of money I made here with a contract sales force. I will also have to buy a car which sucks. Any serious suggestions?

Would love to make the jump, but the base salary is very low, and they have to sell to a monthly quota. What happands if you have a bad spell. Plus they have to put in the hours, my kids get on the bus at 8:00 and get off the bus at 3:30, and I am told they do not have a budget for lunches. I know you can make good money, but I need work and family considerations as well, good luck

Severance..... 90 days then 2 weeks x 138 months $289,800
.......nothen but miller lite, cowboy steaks, slot machines, and Sasquatches.

I agree they work more hours in med device, and have much lower base pay. My fear is a quota, what if you cant perform for a year, are you fired. I know that they can make more than a pharma rep, but they have to a hit a #. I am not sure this is for me. I want to stay in pharma. I also have a young family and need the flexible/ family hours

Was this necessary? This young woman is in trouble and doesn't need your narcissistic bragging.

If you are young enough to still have school age children you were going to have to find a career outside traditional pharma sometime--contract sales is the future. Have you thought about going back to school to become an NP, teacher, engineer,physical therapist, occupational therapist or if you love selling what about another field?
Computer sales, software sales, chemical sales, paper sales, petrochemical sales-- you get the idea.
 




If you are 30+...medical device. If you are 40+...stay in pharma/biologics. Don't buy a car. Borrow one from a family member or friend for a few months. Chances are you will end up with an even better job than the one you had with Janssen. Then you will be stuck trying to sell a car in this damn Obamaeconomy. Everyone that I have ever known that has been displaced, ends up with a better opportunity. Trust me, as I speak from experience. Go on a lot of interviews, even with primary care positions...just to develop your interviewing skills. By the time you begin interviewing for the job you would love to have, the interviewing anxiety will be gone.

Also, I have a relative in med device and the hours are crazy. He does many inservices on evenings and weekends. Great money, but high stress level.

One last thought...if you hate the idea of possibly getting displaced ever again, get out of the pharma industry. Sorry, but it comes with the territory.

Denise could not get the co-promotion done with Lilly, so we are in deep trouble, even top performers, over and out for now. As always, stay positive and keep it real in 2010!

You are 58 and you haven't grown up yet....it is kind of sad actually.
 




So let me get tthis straight. We have a baby momma who works part ttime and gets a full time pharma package. She is looking for another career that pays her six figures for working 25hours/week at most. And you feel bad for her. Have had more than one of those as counterparts and I had to work full time, do the diner programs, do the breakfasts and the non-10-to-2 calls. Face it honey. Not only are you not replacing the gig you screwqed all these years, you better resign yourself to either work likie the rest of the world or stay home and raise them kiddies
