What is going on here?

I just saw an episode of "Doomsday Bunkers" on A&E, and according to the nutjobs featured on that show, everything the blogger above says is true. WE'RE ALL DOOMED!! Unless, of course, you have a doomsday bunker buried in your backyard complete with 3 yrs worth of food, water, etc.!
 




Montreal-based Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc. is continuing its buying spree as it makes its 15th acquisition this year with a $2.6 billion (U.S.) offer for Medicis Pharmaceutical Corp.

The purchase is part of Valeant’s strategy to focus on dermatological products.

The deal, which has already been approved unanimously by the boards of directors of both companies, needs sign-off from Medicis shareholders. Valeant has secured financing for 100 per cent of the transaction value from J.P. Morgan Chase Bank.
 




We are all fucked! Buying Medicis was a necessary part of keeping Galderma solvent. Yes we have $46B in cash and some (mostly line extensions) products in the pipeline, but nothing to really crush it. With Valeant buying Medicis and sweeping up all the other little companies, they are positioned to rule derm.

We are losing a division in 2013, probably going to pod sales to keep people from getting laid off and they keep shrinking the money we get (whether by cash or powerpoints...remember when we used to get thousands of powerpoints?) I don't think we are going away any time soon, but Galderma certainly isn't the powerhouse it was.

Come on Brito whats going on? We have 46B in cash. Buy Medicis and pay the Valeant idiots their 90 mill breakup fee then we will rule derm. For 2.7 we can pick up all their products and Dysport/Restylane as well. Is anyone home in France?

We are entering a new socialist world order in which a sliver of individuals at the top make huge sums of money while slashing and burning people on the bottom, and paying those they keep little but a stipend to subsist on. Check out the Foxconn company in China and see were business is going. It is quickly becoming a feudal system - surfs and masters. Free enterprise is becoming dust in the wind, and after the November election, may be gone forever.
 




If you are not deeply concerned about where this company is trending you are all either been here for 12 months or less , or have an IQ of an middle east sheep herder.

I'm on the sales side and every year the division between the Dallas based employees and the field grows. marketing is being filled up with good reps and managers but incompetent marketers !

MC is even worse ! Lazy employees managed by lazy maangers that show up to answer your questions with copies of fingertip formulary ! They have no answers and appear to know nothing about how to get our products on a formulary. they have simply mastered the art of excuse making.

Home office people think they have the pulse of the field , they have no freakin clue. When most of them are up front talking, 70% of those in the a sales audience don't believe a single word they are saying. Why? becuase of recent actions that speak so much louder.

We do see and make note of your insider jokes and political posturing.

Trust has been broken between the two . the culture is one of open head nodding followed by private and negative conversations about the true state of the company.

Is it really in the Galderma's best interests to have low morale overunning the field based sales people ? The Dallas employees are not the face of the company , the field are.

Galderma's leadership needs to restore some camaraderie and trust between the two . If not , I predict a mass exodus of the better sales people who have grown fed up with the bumlbing , the quotas that make no sense , dwindling bonuses , constant card changes and passing of the buck. great sales person are always in demand , no matter what the economy.

Having a great power point presentation impresses no one , having faith in leadership and their direction , hearing the honest truth , accountability at the home office are long over due.
