Give him a few months. He already knows what he wants to do and that is reorg and layoffs. This is all he knows how to do. You hired Satan so get used to it. He'll be stolling your hallways looking at cubicles. At Sanofi people used to actually duck down and get under their desk when they heard he was on his layoff stroll around the building. His he living close to HQ. He never lived in Jersey by Sanofi HQ. He preferred Boston area and his man reason for over paying for Gensyme was so he could have an easy commute. IMHO he’s gonna start shopping the company. The way he dropped names on yesterday’s call it shouldn’t be hard to reach other leaders. And his experience in Bio VC means he knows who’s looking.

This guy is a culture destroyer and a complete sociopath with no empathy for anyone other than himself. Viehbacher can occupy himself for quite a while. There’s no shortage of idiot/incompetent employees he can get rid of.
Perhaps it is a perfect setup for the lying hapless set of insiders. All depends on how long they can keep up appearances.
He can be the boards bulldog without knowing all the mistakes they made that led Biogen here. For the LT, they can try to control the narrative and he has no clue who to listen to (choices are limited but not them). He is a CPA who has been out of the game for 5 plus years. He probably doesnt have many of his people (like most biogen "leaders") any more. So he gets bs story lines from the board and the lt and mayhem ensues. Plus, dont think he spins this to a bigger gig so just about being an ass and making too much money. Pucker up.
R&D will continue to suck, corporate functions will be cut down but in many of the wrong ways, solothurn will be gone with a lot of mfg outsourced, etc. Let the chaos commence as you put a fresh coat of paint on a rotting foundation (but he and the board will cash out before the rot breaks through... Maybe). But youll have a beautiful balance sheet for the short term perhaps.

As you probably figured out the trolls from competitors or past employees trying to scare everyone about our new CEO are ridiculous. I do agree with some of the comments regarding certain leaders here but not Chris. I’ve talked to many who have worked under his leadership and how he came across on his first town hall is who he is which is far better and more human than our previous CEO. Yes of course there will be changes. Do not fall into the typical negativity and doom and gloom of the comments. I look forward to the miserable people trashing this positive post. This next year will be challenging then it will keep getting better. For the person who said our R and D sucks - you are clearly clueless.
