Vertex stock

What is going on? Our options are worthless!

New Competition is continuing to show major data without peg and without rib and will continue to do so until the stock is in the teens. Did you really think this ride would last? How much research on the HCV pipeline with VRTX and others did you do before deciding to come onboard?

If you took this job thinking it wasn't going to be a 2-3 year gig, you are an idiot. Vertex's stock will fall at an inversely proportional rate to the competitive company that is cranking out unrivaled results.

Thats 2-3 years of getting experience in the HCV marketplace, which is fairly fertile ground. Unlike oncology, etc, there are very few reps with experince in the area (mostly at Genentech and Merck). If this gig flames out in 2-3 years, well that 2-3 years of great money and experience. BTW, guess who the new competition, will be calling to fill their jobs? That would be Me and You! Thats right, they will be looking for reps with HCV experience, so yes MAYBE I will be at vertex for 2-3 years, but HCV is the hottest area in the industry, with many, many entrants coming in the next 10 years. I hitch my wagon to the Therapeutic area, not a given company.

Indeed, for HCV reps, the future is very bright, whether or Vertex or Not!

You are so full of yourself. Abbott, for example will launch from a division from within just like Merck did. Vertex had to go out and hire. And by the way there are lots of less expensive and less entitled great reps out there. You have become drunk with the kool aid and that is when danger sets in quickly around here.

Vertex has officially jumped the shark!

You are soooooo bitter that you didn't get the job. Couldn't handle the panel interview? Go back yo your primary care job loser. This place is for winners. Wealthy winners!

Reps at Vertex are mediocre at best. Probably average to what industry has to offer. Not terrible, but nothing great. Lack key elements that make other reps "great".

Merck has the premier salesforce - but lacks the product. Cheers!

Good analysis. Merck has the premier sales force, yet they're getting their asses kicked lol. No wonder we are killing you.

The only thing that will (barely) drive this stock is the CF drug and other pipeline drugs. TID to BID isn't going to cut it. AASLD is exposing VRTX and the mass sell off has begun as folks run to all oral regimens.

The fact that this job is a 2-3 year gig never implied that the stock would follow suite. Options will be under water soon.

Dude, you nailed it.

Pharmasset ain't gonna have to pay super-premium to hire mercenary sales force...you see that data that was just presented? That product gonna have looooong legs.

Agree that Vertex will be fertile recruiting ground - but better make hay whilst the sun shines. Pharmasset ain't gonna throw their EBIT out of whack with labor costs way over industry average like we got here..but I'll take it while I can!

Let's just hope that all those providers who bragged about their laundry-lists of patients continue to treat for the next couple of years, and that some of these other products have a couple of bumps along the way.

No bumps. These drugs look VERY clean.

People think they will jump ship but look at what Vertex did - they only chose a few from each company. The great majority of current Vertex reps will be left out in the cold as only the best of the best will be asked to interview. It is delusional to assume most or even half of the Vertex sales force will jump ship. Ain't going to happen.

Remember, Merck had had an HCV sales force already, from Schering plough, so they simply gave them a new product. Abbot does not have an HCV sales force, none of their current reps no anything about HCV, nor do they have any HCV relationships. In the long term, the demand for Reps with HCV experience will be intense. Think about ths, just try getting an Oncology job without oncolgy experience, very hard to do. Well same principle with HCV, the HCV experienced reps will have the pick of the litter.

Its not the Reps, its the product! Merck reps are clearly more experienced in the area, but the data is way too compelling to overcome. Reps have impact only when ALL THINGS are EQUAL. Clearly, these two products are not even close to being equal.
