Upcoming LAYOFFS TO BE MASSIVE !!!!

What about District Managers? I hope my last DM I had at Abbott gets canned. He's a scumbag.

don't worry your pretty little head. All managers' asses are sticking out a mile right now. DMs RMs SDs , etc. are looking for a complete collapse of their pyramid scheme. When the reps on the bottom fall, the bosses have no where to hide. They are going to see an astonishing reduction. There will be very few of them who will land on their feet. Most will be swept aside and down the sewer.
How so very sad.

You call this sad? I call it Karma.

Yes it is Karma. All these self important jump for the man and do whatever regardless of what is right managers are now scrambling around looking for a job. I heard there is one manager that has interviewed with nearly 70 people and still is slopping out CC jibberish trying to motivate her reps She is getting what she deserves shoiuldnt have put so many people on plans over the last 9 years because they wore the wrong color of shoes, etc...

Maybe they are going to throw in some real surprises all at once. Realign other sales orgs at the same time they eliminate CC? Its possible. There have been absolutely zero changes made thus far to the sales org of this brand new company. There will be other reductions in sales and sales mgmt. that is a definite. They may be waiting to do a lot of it all consecutively.

Am willing to bet that this is going to happen. The entire salesforce is sooo overstaffed, esp. the managers. To be lean, more then just CC sales needs to be addressed. Look around all you reps in Luprin, Hugemara, Androsmell, etc. Look to the rep on your right, on your left, only one of you will be here by yearend.

My Humira DM told me I was all set for at least 5 more years. Is he purposely deceiving me?

My Humira DM told me I was all set for at least 5 more years. Is he purposely deceiving me?

They told CC reps that trilipix was good until 2014 or even beyond that and niaspan 2013 which was/is correct, however, they also told CC reps that they were agressively seeking a co promotion or aquisition to keep everyone employed and happy. So, believe what you will, but Humira is going to get hit big time with competition and pricing pressures from your buddy Barry O....

Not necessarily. Obviously, as Humira goes, so goes Abbvie. With multiple indications, H is probably a good bet to be a strong seller for a good while, but with access issues, the Affordable Care Act coming full force in 2014, and competition, nothing's written in stone. Then again, what is in this life?
I'm in Cardio Care. We've been dancing at the end of a rope since ACCORD and AIM-HIGH kicked the stool out from under us. Tricor's gone, Trilipix and Niaspan are soon to be history, and so will we. I have no hard feelings, these things happen. I was angry when we found out Abbvie had not been seeking a new product or co-promote for us, as they had led us to believe, but life's too short to waste on something I can't reverse. I'm just trying to move on, and do something else.
My advice to you? Keep knocking out Humira, especially if you love what you do, but keep your eyes open for other opportunities, even outside pharma. Be in charge of your own destiny.

One subtle point that you seem to miss. There is a big difference, in the current changing healthcare world, between a product's patent life and the level of pharma rep support that will be needed. Add in the problem with reduced office access, affordability squeezing and irritation caused by excessive rep visits, and you have a recipe for a very strained and pressured career path in pharma sales (regardless of the product) There will always be a need for some level of representation in the field but it will continue to be thinned out. There will be much larger territories with much fewer reps across all products. Price and insurance/health plan coverage are all that will matter. Not lunches, snacks or ass kissing.

Kinda thought my mention of access issues covered your point, as it's actually an umbrella term encompassing all the factors you listed. Even so, without patent protection, access is a moot point.

When the semester ends (June 30) so will the CC sales force. It will be announced as part of the 2nd quarter earnings report. By the beginning of 2014, AbbVie will be at its correct size going forward. Severances will be completed, marketing will be re-orged, and sales will be a whole lot leaner. Don't forget the new benefit plans will begin also. So long the traditional pension program and medical benefits.

We were "right-sized" in January 2011, yet here we are 2 years later, on the brink of closing down Cardio Care. Remember what has often been said of Abbvie by leadership: "Abbvie will be lean and mean."

If you think that means only the CC team, you have a big surprise coming.

Nope, won't just be CC. We know. So how come AbbVie got to be Mean months and months ago and it takes them so long to get lean?

Do we really need 2 reps to cover 16 accessible docs , if that, per Humira territory? Lots of low talent lucky unproductive people drawing some big paychecks! We sure know how to waste and defraud the patients who are our ,ahem, priority.

But, of course, you're not one of those "low talent lucky unproductive people drawing some big paychecks" are you?
