Too many ride a longs

you must be new to this game? let me tell you when your boss is riding with you he knows that it is tough to get in/access/see a doc/anyone. you need to make your time count. when you see a doc talk to him about what is important to him/her....their patients and how you can solve a need. dont talk marketing pieces talk product/clinical data and how it can help with their patients disease state. if you talk to PA's or NP's do the same. Be different from the other reps they see. If you only see a gatekeeper tell her you are looking for particular patients describe them.... ask her/him if any family members experiencing and issues? You are building rapport. your manager will see this as refreshing. No go out there and sell!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sound advice!

I really hate this company ! I just want to out of here! In over 20 years I have NEVER had so many ride alongs!!! This is utterly ridiculous!! If the GD home office personnel want to be out in the field so GD bad then why the heck don't they get a frigin sales job??? I would just like to go more than 1 week in my new territory by myself. This is absolutely crazy. This company is sabotaging themselves. Its pretty bad when my top kol says well I have met you 4 times and each time you have had an escort is there something I need to know? Now I have a program coming up I have 2 mgr/corp people indicating they will be in attendance I only have 1 Dr.,
2 RN's, & a LCSW. Seriously people, either you have absolutely no trust in the reps you hired or you think its Frigin hysterical to literately torture your reps. The first chance I get I am so out of this hell hole!!!

I'm having a hard time believing this post is real. I've had 1 ride along, and everything else has been fine. If the above is true, I'd just say hang in there. It will get better. I think everyone is just excited about the new product and they want to be a part of the process I guess?

Good luck friend.

If this is true, you're doing a poor job managing these visits. For your KOLs, put the HO escorts in proper context.

There are positives and negatives to bringing an escort on a call with you. You're focusing on the negatives. You can choose to focus instead on the positives. You have control over this part of it, and you can make this change today.

You're in a negative mind space, and are headed for a rut, but it's not too late to change course. To change your course, change your attitude.

Just received an email letting me know that Jon Coktoasten will be working with me on Dec 2nd. It says he works in Shipping and Receiving. Why would he need to work with me? Serious replies only!

Oh man, you need to try to get out of that. Jon Coktoasten is a crazy bastard. He rode with me right after launch and just quoted Tommy Boy all day, even in front of customers. I mean, he was funny and it's a really good impersonation, but it didn't do anything advance the strong efficacy story.

It did help me in one account though. The Doc is a huge Tommy Boy fan and they started acting out scenes and shit. As we were leaving the Doc said, "Man I love Chris Farley. Tell you what, I'm putting 8 people on Aristada tomorrow."

Because that's how this business works. At least, according to Jon Coktoasten that's how this business works.

Great feedback! Sounds like it will be a fun day!

to the idiot that has had too many field rides- first of all if you took everyone to see the same doc then your a moron relying on this customer- maybe you should drive a little farther and see some of other customers. And since when are field rides a pharma thing and not a biotech thing? All do field rides- part of the gig so if your new to this then I have no idea how you were hired here. You sound stressed- or maybe incompetent is a better description. Thank god you don't work for me.

I truly believe that those in corporate really feel that it is no big deal to come out and ride with reps. I truly believe that they have not a clue how mentally stressful the whole situation really is. Anyone can see by the posts which ones come from corporate and can see they who at least those who posted do not truly understand the total ramifications that come from the barrage of ride alongs. As a rep we have a lot of obstacles we must over come in order to be successful. Does corporate even realize just how closed all of the health care accounts have become? I am sorry for being candid, but there really isn't one provider that really cares to have someone from corporate come into their business or take them to dinner. Providers are so pushed to see so many patients/hour/day and having reps coming in with a parade of people will only shut off what access we may have gotten. Please, I see that you are really excited to have your first drug launched but you went through a painstaking process to hire each of us, please let us do our job. You really need to try to understand how detrimental it is to the business as well as to our mental psyche to have regionals, attorneys, compliance and any others in our car on a weekly basis. They way I see it is there are two choices, realize this fact and let us do our jobs or in a matter of time we will find another company to go to.

100% correct. Add to it managers and upper management with NO injectable experience and this is a nightmare.

I love it when HO tries to post as a rep. Thank you for your ridiculous input. The ride along situation is absurd. I really like my manager and it's absurd. Having someone with you repeatedly while trying to launch makes you look incompetent and the company paranoid.
Management and upper management with zero LAI experience-- no idea how long this takes in a non pill world. The time expectation is ludicrous. Let's add a managed care snafu in CA that torpedoed several reps back to square one after being told to use our relationship to garner rx out of the gate that then left Dr. & patients hanging in the wind. My friend is still apologizing and begging forgiveness. Once again, another interview process I thought I vetted fully only to be screwed.

What did you not like about the launch meeting?

It was clear at the launch that the company had a dire lack of mental health LAI experience and facility experience. The "validations" are straight out of primary care- you have reps here 16+ years. The lack of information, data, and real life positioning was scary. Zero free time- which at this juncture I truly don't care about- but let me go home a day early. Don't force grown reps into fake dine around situations. The whole thing screamed primary care for dummies.

You don't look incompetent, you are incompetent.

Making the best of the situation. It's a launch. Never goes as smooth as promised. Those that can adapt still get it done. Those that complain will always complain no matter the circumstances because that's what they do.

Hanging in the wind? Begging forgiveness? Use a sample you idiot. Get over it. They face coverage issues everyday, especially at the launch of a product. Sounds like you've never launched before or are just a panic-driven bafoon. "Vetted fully"? I bet your manager feels the same way about you. Good luck, you'll need it.
