Todays HR EMAIL---the end is near

Old Farty - don't confuse yourself with the salesforce. My comments were certainly not directed at you - i thought the skid mark that got us to our present state had thrown all of you over. The 'old school' reps helped make this company what it was. I'm sorry those who took the reigns from PRoy hosed us all. Your job is just easier to farm out than mine.

I'm not in sales at all but the sales results are very important to the work I do, specifically the more disappointing the numbers are, the more I have to pressure other areas. For whatever reasons the sales org as a whole has been sucking the wind out of our sales for too long. Talk to your 15x15 buddies who are out doing anything but sales work. They have sharpened the blade with Inventiv's name on it. Sales is just the next domino in the cost cutting array.

I'd sell those shares if I were you. Our emperor has no clothes and you'll have no profit the day it becomes obvious. I've sold all I had over time and by your definition, I'm quite the big shot!

Wait until they can all of the reps, then watch the stock jump 15% or more---then sell this P.O.S.

Remember this wise man on CP told you this. "Everyone is replaceable at Merck and no one is indispensable."

There is always a disconnect between folks like you and the sales reps. People at the HQ start to believe sales reps (cheap or expensive) are the necessary evil and the HQ folks possess all the knowledge.

BTW, kid, if you don't have at least 5K to 10K shares of Merck stocks in your name or higher you should not talk like a big shot.

Signed,
Old Farty Dumb Deli-slinging Rep with over 10K shares of Merck stocks plus more.

Either this dude is a troll or incredibly naive. HQ is doled out stock options like candy. I was given a 5k share grant for completing a high profile project. They will even give you unrestricted stock units if they like you enough. Ever get any of THOSE? FREE stock - the only shares worth anything! I got a basket full of those, too. How big a shot does that make me?

Keep thinking you're so highly paid and rewarded, Mother is a lot more generous than a lot of you field staff would believe.

Ive been around for long while and have only 100 share. Why are the reps left out?

HQ isn't called the Ivory Tower for nothing is all I can tell you. 100 shares? You do know that all employees inside were given a grant of 100 shares for Merck's 100 year anniversary in 2002 I think it was. To think that having 5-10k shares in grants makes you a big shot is laughable. A direct report of mine was given 150 shares for doing a little extra work on a project. They're really not a big deal. And unless you got unrestricted units, they're worthless anyway.

Reps are seen as having no value....my interpretation why we're left out. Another thing to be disgusted over.

If you didnt receive, look on your email and search. If you still cant find it then I guess you really dont work here and really are a Troll....it went to everyone from what I see.

Not a troll - just did NOT receive the email. I have spoken to other reps who have not received this either (Women's health, vaccines, hospital). I am not a troll - just a merckie trying to figure out how much longer we have with the company.

HQ aka 'the troll' aka 'kid' - yes, THIS is what we are all hoping for - a sales force that costs less and delivers results. My job can't go to India - thank you SEC! I know how this company actually makes money and the lack of top line growth tells me you glorified lunch delivery jockeys are NOT earning your keep. Bring on Inventiv!

LOL---and what makes you think a contract force will bring "top line growth"? Costs may go down, but sales will not improve. We're talking very short term gains. Better hope for a lucrative pipeline. If that doesn't happen, while you claim your job can't go to India, you cannot be certain that there won't be any downsizing in your area. No one is safe. Not even you, "kid".

Jesus Christ imself couldn't bring top line growth to Merck. Management knows that, along with everyone else. The only option to improve bottom line growth is to cut costs. It is apparent that management has figured that out, don't you think? If you're unsure, you can ask some of the XX,000 employees that have been shoved out the door in the last few years.

You don't know a lot about SEC rules for public companies. My area will not be downsized, sent to India or otherwise flustered by all that's going on. I'm as safe as I want to be.

Sorry, not a troll and I am not talking about stock options. I have those too. Most are worthless and some have expired. It is part of my investment portfolio. Some of us are into investment for the future. Why is 10K of Merck stocks that big a deal if you have been good with your money? Most of my friends that joined Merck at the same time have the same if not more. You should be ashamed of yourself if you have been with Merck for 20-30 years and have less than $300K in your 401K.

"You should be ashamed of yourself if you have been with Merck for 20-30 years and have less than $300K in your 401K"..................big statement from someone who DOES NOT KNOW the individual situation of another.....anything can prevent this....ever hear of illness
and medical bills, caring for aged parents (nursing homes), divorce, financial losses (wrecklessness of another, natural disaster to property...), children, school loans, living in high cost of living areas, one income households, not making big salaries and plenty of
other issues ..........many hard working people at retirement age do not have that amount of money no matter how frugal they try to be .....unfortunate, but that is life.

Surveys find most Americans have about 50-150K combined in their life and retirement savings at retirement age. Funny how some people here can't see their blessings. Situations like these are common so get off the greed express and appreciate what you do have.....

On the other hand I have seen some of my colleagues overspent to the point of being ridiculous. Those of us that dressed plainly and spend frugally at meetings get laughed at by that high-flying and high-spending group all the time. We put money away every month into our 401K plan. We don't go on cruises. We don't go on bi-annual vacation to exotic lands. Personally I experienced most of the above disasters and still was able to retire with much more. I am truly blessed and it can be done.
