Wow, suddenly I don't feel so bad about myself. Sometimes I think this job is just not challenging, but your in a deep dark place.

This place has become a real S-Hole, since our last leader decided to do something that would be unique and make Merck the envy of Wall Street. You know the "Not so new commercial model". Actually,if they would have read the Harvard Case Study on General Electric, they may have actually gotten it rite! Its unfortunate there wasn't a real fire in their belly when this was done. Do you see where our stock price is, still? My old underwear is worth more than the options I received in 2002. Damn it! Do you think they would send them to me and I could drop them off at Good Will and get a tax receipt?

All I gotta say is: If Peter Kim were Santa Clause, he would probably deliver Christmas gifts to Israel.

you must be new here at Merck. You will understand that it's our culture to peddle the poisons. If you have any sense of dignity or pride, please leave. We make crap poison that kills people and you sell it.

We may be lousy these days but don't be so negative. Timoptic saves many from going blind. Mefoxin and Primaxin saves lives too. Mevacor was the first option ever for people, especially those with familial hypercholesterolemia, to live longer than their family members. Indocin provided relief that was never possible. Vasotec made many with CHF enjoy their lives just a tad better than before. Propecia makes balding men feel good about themselves with hair growth. Fosamax prevents fractures and many women are able to be more active again. Vioxx could have been a great drug even with a box warning but we got greedy. Prilosec was like a godsend to people who got no relief from H2 and antacid. All drugs are poisons. Our ped vaccines have been wonderful. You can die from drinking too much water too.

Really!!!!!Is water going to be the next big discovery by R&D? If so I'm sure it will get through QA with rat turds in it and everyone will get sick.

I guess your bull shit is the only way you can sleep at night knowing how many people you have damaged for a paycheck.

Such bitterness. If you are with Merck, you really should quit for your own sanity. My intent was to remind ourselves that we did bring forth good medicine that save lives. Not that Merck is a saintly company. Nor the current management is brilliant. Those were great drugs that greatly benefit people's quality of life. Merck at one time was ethical before we got greedy. If you are never with Merck, well then....

Because Merck does not pay for top people anymore (last 15 years), you get a group of sub-par people who create poison. Old Merck= professionalism, dignity, and pride. We have to accept the fact that there are good and ethical people here at the new Merck. Perhaps they have been intimidated into keeping quiet. We can't generalize all current Merck people as dumb and incompetent. I agree that I used to have no problem speaking up freely for the purpose of being constructive and to achieve the goal of better sales. Now this is discouraged and may have repercussion.

What is the "better place"? Small company or different industry? I recently left one of the other former honorable US Big Pharma outfits, which like Merck, has become a cesspool inhabited by incompetents, sycophants and backstabbers.

It will be coming out soon. Maybe you post before you is correct. We need to show the FDA that we are making changes by rebuilding the whole QA department. Maybe bringing in a 3rd party to do it. A group that is independent of the Merck way of doing things. The Merck way has failed for a long time now.
