15% bump is pretty good these days. There are so many people wanting to get into Pharma or jump ship from another company, many are taking the same pay just to make a move. This company is sketch. Asks for birthday to book flight for final interview (not necessary). Says they can get prior salary even if you don't want to disclose it and only can give you up to 15% raise from last job unless petitioned by hiring manager?
Walk-Mart is not Pharma.
To the other poster, anyone who has flown since 9/11 must have their birthdate in their travel profile. Otsuka does not care but the agency used is AMEX travel and they care so take it up with them.
You worked one year entry level and you want to be bumped up to specialty with tenured reps who have earned their way to this level for several years.
You are what you settle for.
I question the manager who is considering hiring you let alone these strange questions. I agree these are unprofessional and amateurish. What’s the point of your level of guilt or other nonsense?
Otsuka’s culture is to bully or be bullied. No pipeline, incompetent leaders, who promote incompetent people and a Ready Now sales force that is too inexperienced to successfully sell in specialists. So, if you are ambitious resign and join a company where you can contribute and pursue a career.

This company only cares about sales if the brand hits budget numbers and if you are in president's club. Otherwise, it is all about reach and frequency, promotional spending, and other silly metrics. The only this your boss cares about is looking good in front of his/her boss. And that boss is the same way. It's like some dictatorship military- nobody really cares about the work, just make it look pretty and tow the company line.

Works really well when you can charge sky-high prices for mediocre drugs like Rexulti....Enjoy it while you can...That is why being a DM is a bullshit job, enforcing this crap day in and day out. This company only cares about sales if the brand hits budget numbers and if you are in president's club. The rep job prior to COVID-19 was pretty pathetic. Now it has gotten even worse. Instead of selling, 95% of what I do is covering my ass, and I know many of my team members feel the same way. We are slaves to this show, because we all got mortgages and families to feed. I regret the moment I ever got into this. Those that were rejected in the interview process are the ones that are blessed.Works really well when you can charge sky-high prices for mediocre drugs like Rexulti....Enjoy it while you can...That is why being a DM is a bullshit job, enforcing this crap day in and day out.
You are correct, but nowhere is the discrepancy between price and service provided larger than in our industryLet's be honest. All of the people complaining about metrics or self-righteous indignation or some other dissonance, why don't you have the guts to do something about it?
We all have a great situation here. How about if you worked at a department store, a restaurant, or some other service company? You'd be out of work.
Every other company that has knowledge-based workers with computers has employees working from home. You are getting 100% pay and even a bonus for sitting on your ass making 2 phone calls or a couple Veeva Engage calls. Name me another industry that pays $100,000 a year for that.
Now if you have a problem with the price of medicine, then get out of Pharma. I agree the Execs may be out of touch (It's "all about the patient", right?) but they just look at call averages and budget spending. But this is the game they chose to play and you willfully applied for an got the job. If you don't like it or can't sleep at night because you are part of the ripping off of the system, then leave. Get out of Pharma or even Corporate America. I'll bet you sold yourself as an "entrepreneurial mindset" or something like that in the interview, so remove the cushy safety net of the salary and benefits and go work for yourself if you are so smart and hard working.
The truth is most of us talk a good game but then look at our families and obligations and every other compromise we have made along the way to get to where we are, and it's in that instant reality check that leads us to grab another cup of coffee and sit right back down at our I-Pad to call an office to check in so we can check a box.
You're doing the right thing. Most of the cowards on this board complain and point fingers but if you aren't willing to do something about it like find another line of work, I think they should just STFU and get back to work and earn their dirty paychecks. You are correct, but nowhere is the discrepancy between price and service provided larger than in our industry
Enjoy it while it lasts....Changes are coming...Hopefully you are prepared for it!
I am on my way out...voluntarily....Can't participate in this charade anymore...
