Third Party Company Checking Calls/Times

My manager just told me that we are using a 3rd party company to check calls that are made in the field as well as time spent in the field. They are attempting to verify which physicians are actually seen versus a box checked by calling offices and asking about access and the last time that a Merck rep spoke with the doctor. This show may be over soon.

We were told in January that it was going to happen in 2S. I guess it started.

Looks like things haven't changed one bit since I was lucky enough to exit toxic Merck...

These reps that are not working? What exactly is the job anyway? You call a food company
and have lunch brought it...You get a signature from the doctor even if he is too busy to
come to the lunch room...

Some work...jeez...what a complete joke!

It is a joke but when reps are paid among the top 10% of income levels for USA workers it is a joke anyone would like to participate in. Many have left in recent years due to this reality forced of course by the company. But to be fair Merck has let this go on for a long time to the benefit of the reps. The party is over now.

I am a internal business monitor, we will be utilizing accumulated data which will actively be scored to drive the next layoffs. Those scoring low will be gone.

Pharma dug it’s own grave, and Merck dug there’s deeper. It was a great ride while it lasted. Finishing my 30yrs in this industry and both sad and glad to get out. Sad for what companies and our jobs have become, and glad I was able to make it to a comfortable retirement.
Last day will be August 1. I wish you all the best.

“Press 1 for Appointments”, “2 for the lab”, etc..no way they pull this off. Heck patients can’t even get someone to speak to in some areas

Agreed...They are way too dysfunctional at Merck or their vendors to pull off a project of
this scope...no way it is really happening....Probably doing it for only those they suspect
of the most flagrant violations, and then it will be airtight so they can win in court
if they have to. (Merck I mean.)

The bottom line is that everyone knows the job is a joke and drug reps get paid
6 figures to work part time or not at all...You gotta love the drug biz right?

You may regret not delaying retirement until November 1. Possible hand raising and extended money and benefits.
Layoffs are a done deal with announcement Nov 1.

Had coffee with one of my physicians this morning. He told me that a vendor stopped by his office on Wednesday and offered $500 to answer a five point questionnaire concerning me. He answered and they wrote a check on the spot. Interesting!

Lol. You are so naive. There will be layoffs soon. A 4th to market product that has no benefit over existing products will not save this company. I really hope that you were joking. Also most new positions are considered entry level which is why they are not bringing back the high salaries that they got rid of in the last round. If you are on the high end of the salary scale you are already a target. The more you make the more you cost them in salary and pension to "sell" Steglatro. The money doesnt even cover the RFMs that we are doing.

As are the other regional areas. Looking to retire here in another 8 years. No layoffs !

Well said. All of those reps who are buying the dream of no layoffs should just click their heels and say three times that theres no place like home. Wishful thinking I guess. It is sad to see people not understand that the days of the 6 figure pharmaceutical rep are almost gone and they are going down with the ship. To quote Trump, Sad, Vey Sad.

Stop being lazy and look for another more rewarding job. They are out there. Why just feel sorry for yourself and continue the denial? I will be leaving in August for a better opportunity, There are alot of jobs out there right now that will allow you to feel good about what you do on a daily basis. You dont always have to check boxes and wonder if you going to get fired before the next layoffs.

This environment has become so toxic. Keytruda is the only positive thing that we have going for us right now, and it sounds like the oncology div is being managed into the ground now.
