Good to see some people really understand. This had to have been a fight led by those who have left or are ready to retire because no one, I mean no one, wants to be reduced to an hourly worker. The laws are so strict. Scheduled breaks and lunch time, punching a clock, any overtime has to be approved, no pay for driving to and from first and last call and more. Every activity in the day tracked like nothing you have seen before. The best discussions about this say there will be far fewer reps in hourly, menial positions. Then additions of other kinds of roles that are salaried.

Last time I checked, we live in a free country. If you are miserable leave. Otherwise, try to make it better where you are AND be grateful for all that you have In your life now. Otherwise, you will continue to get what you're getting wherever you go. Better to go out on the top and happy for all the blessings in your life.

Misery in corporate America right now is commonplace. Whole industries are collapsing and with them, jobs. There is not a person I know that hasn't been negatively affected by the economy in the last 5years. Has it been hard here? Yes! Will it get better? I think so, but who knows? In the meantime, you can choose to be bitter or you can choose to do the best you can which will serve you well internally or externally. Bottom line, your choice.

Final note, having had a number of friends in unrelated industries lose their jobs, or be asked to take a pay reduction, or pay all for all their benefits, this ain't a bad gig. Suck it up, put on a happy face and get the heck out if life is that miserable. Life is too short!

I was canned in December, I will double my last year's W-2 by September. There is life after Novartis, only the desparate and envious will try to make you think you have no other options.

Learn from this comment; Yes there are still some good things at this once great company. So you get paid well for few hours of work if you work smart not hard as they want you to. Continue doing this with cutting your efforts to bare min. just cover your ass as they say. Milk them, milk them and milk them some more. When ready to move on (if they don't do you a favour and can you so you get a package and motivation to go on) look for another place while you still milk them. You get the idea. And yes there is life beyond and after bad and ugly nofartus.
