Look at the mentality of the individual(s) responding to my post. They are bootlickers because they have a mortgage up their wazoo and feel obligated to go along with Otsuka
even though they know what Otsuka does is an absolute rip-off. In other words: Don't crap where you eat! And yes, everybody is living a lie here. This is what directors and managers want. They would not have a job if it wasn't for reps. So they keep them. If Otsuka was ever listed on the NYSE things would change rapidly. Shareholders in no way would accept the financial waste of keeping a totally unnecessary and ineffective salesforce. Add to that that the reps here have extremely low expectations of themselves, they can't do much wrong with a glossy vis-aid. They have no studies to bring any worthwhile information to physicians, one of the reasons why so many clinics have shut down to reps. Most reps can finish their entire weekly route by Tuesday morning at the latest. And every year gets worse. Frankly, it has been going on for the last 7 years like this. Worst of all, you gain absolutely no new skills in this job. To put your financial life in the hands of Otsuka is insane, it can end at any time. And our top leaders keep Japan in the dark! The japs would never accept what is happening here if they knew how ineffective and unnecessary our salesforce is. At least in Japan, reps wash the doctor's car...Sorry for the rant, I had more to say, but I have to take an Uber customer up North...

But going back to the issue...managers know what goes on. They discuss it among each other. They also discuss their Regional Director among each other and what kind of quirks s/he has. They are playing the game just as we do. That's why they are sending out a monthly schedule, so we can set up appointments and schlepp that clown somewhere pretending any day is like a day of a ride along. By 2 pm they call it quits because they don't want to know you will not see your 6-8 providers. Just imagine if your DM called you the night before a ride-along, and you had no appointments set up you would totally flip out as you would only see 2 providers at best on a day without appointments.

But all this nonsense costs money and drives up the cost of meds. And Otsuka has no shame whatsoever, pretending we are offering a value or solution is nothing but a joke. Rex does not offer anything that Abilify didn't. And the home office has not given us anything whatsoever that would make our sales calls more productive or interactive. The whole interaction with a provider is below banality. And for that reason I am not making any calls anymore unless my DM shows up. It has not hurt my sales whatsoever. Whether I show up or not is irrelevant since I have nothing for the provider that will change his views or mind on our product.

So, are you "doing your job today", bro, or are you just doing non-productive busywork to justify your presence? Can't really justify your paycheck for what you actually accomplish, because there isn't anything to write home about. And everybody who see you yawns or hope you would just go away because you were just there last week or the Lundbeck rep was. See, I show up every 6 weeks and am greeting with ,"Oh, so glad to see you, where have you been", or "I was Wondering whether or not you still work for Otsuka". I tell them my territory got bigger, they have no clue what is going on, of course, and they don't need to know. Within a few hours I have my entire territory done, because its a very condensed area, and 99% of my offices have Zero access. But unlike you, I use my time profitably and productively. So, having that said, don't lecture me again. In a few years you have ABSOLUTELY nothing to show for in terms of new skills or new experiences, but you think you are marketable because you "have done your job"....! Awesome!!! Totally agree...but what a way to go through life?!! Most people take jobs not only for pay but also to feel fulfilled! How is this even possible here to any degree at all? And our managers are totally useless. If a provider does not want to talk to you, that is his right and his decision. No manager can change that. But YOU will be held accountable for the fact that this prescriber does not "produce" scripts....F that!!!
And that is why I say: You need a second gig....something.... any kind of business that brings in income if the bottom falls out. There are more and more threads on CP about layoffs from other Biotech and Pharma companies. When all these reps flood the market....good luck competing against them. I won't even bother. My Uber/ Lyft gig is so profitable because I don't buy gas, have no oil changes at my expense, etc. It's all on Otsuka...Passengers wonder why I wear a suit...I don't tell them, but I need an occasional signature and drop in at an office, so the receptionist / doc don't say "Where have you been" when my DM is riding with me.
