The Review Process is the Worst I Have Seen It....

Astellas will now not let you forget you had a bad year. I am so sad that we have taken this route. Nothing makes sense to me anymore. I worked so hard last year and have nothing to show for it.

nothing matters but money and protecting you SD aownd DMs job who cares about market share its volume now

Each manager at that meeting talk about who they are going to put under the bus

The review is basically useless. Good or bad. If its going to be weighted so that numbers are 70% of your evaluation then there really isn't much to discuss. After many years, I don't know a single person who's had their rating changed after a review. Look on the bright side. Next year they're only forecasting 7.4% vol growth in a 3% declining mkt. for a 7 yr old product w/ no new info. Oh wait...

I look at the fact that these managers get together and argue over who will get a good rating. When you do your review they now discuss how you have done the last three years.Other implications are involved witb that too Its a horrible process. I feel demotivated

That's the craziest part. Calibration. So if your boss argues better than my boss you get the better raise. More PIP points. How does that concept make sense to anyone? By the time they get to us, everything is decided. There's really nothing left to talk about at the review. We should get to argue on our own behalf at calibration.

I agree....it's a horrible process. Not ONE manager would want their reviews to go like this: having the SD's "calibrate" them!

This boiler room atmosphere never existed before. Every meeting we had leadership took the opportunity to say we are not going to be like big pharma. Guess what, we are Big Pharma. I would have never started a family and continued to depend on this company if I knew I was going to be treated like this. Different from the start was the corporate saying. We have drifted so far away from that it seems like a different world. I am so angry we have been hijacked by the very same people that have destroyed the big companies they came from. You could sum up how we are doing now by just analyzing the Review Process. I love my job, but it feels like it is being taken away from me. I am now told where to go, when to go and show me proof you were there. The sad truth is I do not know what to do. I am venting on Cafe Pharma. Someone please post something that will make me feel better. I know plenty of peopld around the world are having trouble with everyday life and I should be grateful. I just feel hopelessness.

I just joined Astellas in the last year after interviewing with many companies and you guys overall had the best benefits I had seen.

There are plenty of companies out there with just 2 weeks vacation and no Xmas shutdown. I would be surprised to hear that anyone else in the industry offers the friday afternoon thing. The 6% match on 401k is nice as is the other 5.5% (even though it takes a bit too long to earn the maxes on that stuff IMO.

There are some big pharma things, but unfortunately every pharma company out there has ex-gsk, ex-pfizer, ex-novartis and they institute their processes. THe only way to avoid it is to join a company that is so tiny, they haven't developed any kind of infrastructure. With that small infrastructure comes expensive health insurance and sub-par benefits.

Anyhow, I'm pretty new so I haven't seen the genesis of astellas, but it looks pretty good here to me after working for a true big pharma for years.

The last poster paints a good picture, but unfortunately if the trend described above comtinues we will be left witb nothing. They would treat us so good when they knew we could walk across the street and get another job

NEWS JUST IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are 70% to goal but give out the most literature you get a 5.0.. Now wonder we lost a bundle last year............go astelllllllaaaaasssss!!!!!!!!!!!

Poster 13 what you missed by not being here is that before we were "different from the start we had even better benefits than we do now. Better bonus structure w/ attainable goals. Better PIP program. No micro management. No big pharma culture. May be better than some places now but it isn't nearly the great place to work it once was.

I think that hospital sales will never be what it once was, but we could improve upon a few things. We could start with the review procesd, then training, and how we forecast our numbers. We are thinking like dinosaurs when comes to our IC plans. We need start by getting away from rewarding based on numbers.

Then go to GSK or get out of sales Marx

What ticks me off is my manager is a no issue all year. Every once in a while he has a good or bad idea. Most of the time my manager is there just to apply pressure. He is never really corporate like, but when it comes time for this review he changez. He gts serious and corporate like. I have such a bas taste in my mouth with the review.
