The Evolution of Ethicon

No, that thought has never crossed my mind. My guess is you are just lazy and don't take your job seriously. In that case, sure it is real easy

You could have finished your sentence with "that thought has never crossed my mind." ha ha ha!

There are reps that spend 50 hours a week spinning their wheels doing busy work. It really is an easy job.

HBT here. Let's face it, all of our jobs suck. The career opportunities, leadership and culture suck. Going through this for the third year in a row while biosurgery (aka glorified pharma rep) remains untouched really sucks.

Arguing who works harder or has the toughest job is pointless. Let's talk about who has the fastest mini-van.

That a girl. Finally someone willing to admit this place sucks wang.

You are happy to be "hear"... well if I only had a GED I would be totally stoked to be working "hear". Let me guess you were an Inc. rep prior?

Really don't get the superiority complex some ex endo reps have with regard to former Inc reps...you guys do realize that Inc reps made a TON more money in the old company? A decent to good year was over $300k easy. Tell me the last endo rep to make $300k...I'll wait
I honestly couldn't care less as every single endo rep I've met has been great to work with since we merged but it just amazes me to see some of the comments on here

It is interesting to read through this thread and see how things never really change here at Ethicon. I worked on the EES side for 6 years and then on Inc for 5 before constitution. Challenges on both for sure but really very similar when you factor in contracted facilities. There has always been a "pecking order" at all of the Ethicon's (including Gynecare).
1. EES
2. Inc
3 Gynecare
Seems the same "pecking order" is in place with the new roles as well. TL's walk around with their head in the sky thinking how important they are. HBT's seem to just get out and get things done without complaining like the TL does (cause honestly TL's do half their job). Then there is GYN and who really cares about them right? I mean they can't help me out...

Poster 37, I hate to say it but if you have been in sales for 20 years and think the job is tough, it begs the question, What exactly where you selling those 20 yrs?? Furniture? Either you just arrived or you are having difficulty sorting through whats important and whats not. Your comments strongly suggest the latter.

After working 5 years, I left this company. ( That was four years ago.) It became mind-numbing work after 2 yrs.

The amazing thing is how all of you talk about how much you work. Yet, I dont see a single one of you in the ORs I cover....ever! Thats not to say folks arent trying. The fact is most hospitals have policies which limit your access and contracts that drive utilization.

I have news for you, in the current climate, its only going to get worse for this particular job.

Not sure if the person who left this last post has really separated from the company but he/she is 100% right. Mind numbing, boring and contract driven. Have you ever played the game how long can I go without going in a case?
My record is just over 8 weeks. It didn't change my comp at all, still hit my number.

Anyone know of a device job that brings value? I am so tired of being a professional pest. As long as I can make 90k and up I would take anything that offered value. Willing to take a big pay cut.

I've been in the or for 5 years but I don't see anything like that unfortunately

Interstim Medtronic, pacemaker bladder/colon
patient interaction, intrinsic feeling of literally helping someones life versus Ethicon products (commodities), no competition for now, great money

FYI Ethicon 8 years. Good products w competitive advantages but nothing that wows. Maybe SecureStrap :)
