The END is near

Lilly has the worst reputation of any of the pharma companies. Our current talent pool is horrible. My doctor at lunch today gave my dm an earful about how sad it is to see what has happened to Lilly. We have reps calling on doctors that would have never made it past the phone screen even 3 years ago. It's an embarrassment for Lilly and all pharma.

Very sad but the new reality. Going to customer service reps. Pharma reps are dinosaurs.

My manager gets an earful everywhere he goes with me. He has been with Lilly over 20 years and was a rep in my territory before that, so knows all the Drs. All he can do is agree with them and tell them to call corporate (like that will do any good). He see's my overlaps in offices and just can't believe who we are hiring. A lot of them can't dress appropriately, can't speak correctly (including pronouncing drugs) and share their miserable life stories about being on welfare for years or getting fired from their last job at Target, etc.. with our Drs and their staff! OMG it is so embarrassing to watch.

Agree with another poster who said that the demise of Lilly in such a short amount of time has to be one of the top collapses of a Fortune 500 company ever.

We need to think about what patients want and need.

I was in a clinic this week and did not feel good about the morbid obesity around me... how sad it is that people are eating themselves to death.

You know, I have been reading the same nonsense around here for years, and yet, not only is Lilly still here, it certainly seems like a company that has overcome the worst period it has had in many years. Multiple approvals in the recent past, along with some strong data on a number of the other pipeline drugs.

Indeed where I am located Lilly is "Expanding!"

You idiots who constantly bitch about how the end is near, and or how Lilly is doomed are frankly talking out of your asses.

Lilly will still be around long after you bunch of doom porn idiots.

Really ! Give specifics don't talk in generalities. All relevant signs show no future so what do you know ? Please enlighten us we would love to be encouraged. Many are plain frustrated so don't be so hateful unless you truly are a Lilly moron.

Did you have fun using your spouses corporate card this past week to impress? Karma is serious stuff.....just wait for it.

This company is full of professional assassins. If the colonel was around today, you would probably be transferred to latrine duty, until you saw the errors of your ways....

And BTW, did your boss' boss' boss' boss use the corporate credit card on a huge $5 billion mistake several years ago which crippled the future of the whole company?

Oh, come on, for cryin' out loud.... just WHICH $5 Billion mistake are you referring to?

OK, here you go: Over 35 years ago, I interviewed and was hired by Lilly. It was my first real job out of college. The hiring manager, also a guy, took me up to his crummy motel room, and while I sat on the edge of the bed, he smoked and asked me questions. I evidently did OK.
Bursting with pride at having landed a great job, with a great company, I went into a Sears store to buy something, and walked past a table with a couple of men selling insurance....as a newly married guy, I stopped and listened. Turns out one of the men used to work for a pharma company, (I think it was Parke-Davis, but am not sure anymore) and what he said, I will never forget: "Pharmaceuticals? There is no future in that....get out."
Well, millions of dollars later, I would like to find that guy again, and correct him: "There is ALWAYS a future in pharmaceuticals, because the business ALWAYS changes itself to be competitive. The job descriptions may change, but that is a good thing that insures continued profitability, bonuses, pensions, medical benefits, and everything else that comes with success!"

Well good for you. How long have you been out? It's so different now. Now, you would be hired as a contractor, and you would be successful until it was time to flush you. Sorry, that is the new success. I know plenty of happy Lilly retirees. But, there will be very few in the future, by design. That is the NEW success. Enjoy your retirement.
