I read several analysis who like the merger, because of your pipeline, cash rich, Solaris is a money maker, but they did say that its replacement will be a billion dollar drug. Earlier in the year the rumor was that we were going for Gilead, and that about set the pharmaceutical analysis scratching their heads on that one, thank god that didn’t happen. But it seems Wall street does like this fit for AZ.I've worked in the rare disease space. It is different but hardly something that someone with hematology or related experience can't do.
Alexion's issue is their primary money maker, Solaris, goes off patent in 2025. Their follow up product to replace it is out but I'm not sure how well it is doing.
I didn't like this merger. I think AZ overpaid for a one trick pony company that doesn't compliment AZ's direction and strengths.
