This a complete mess. I left the regional meeting feeling a bit better about the future, but the new bonus plan is very, very embarrassing. Not only does it deflate and punish the reps with higher volume, it certainly has sent a strong message that it is now time to leave.
The sad thing, is that the company knows it. Usually, when a bonus plan is something that is fair and worth talking about, a conference call is set up to dramatically unveil it. We get a simple email regarding .30 cents?!? What a COMPLETE slap in the face and they announce it quietly and softly through a single, simple email. I'm sure many would agree that this email reeks of embarrassment by the sender and you can practically feel their tail between their legs. Even they know this is a joke of a bonus and extremely unfair! Working hour upon hour to build up business, in which EVERY SINGLE vial is a struggle and fight, punishes the hard working reps that have fought several months to get their volume up.
The message now is "we don't give a sh*t about you and how you have sacrificed hour upon hour and that we have taken you away from your families. We could care less if you have high volume and work your territory to it's upmost limits. We ONLY care about growth vials and well, basically we lied at all the regional meetings. We still are that giant pressure cooker and even though you struggle every single day just to MAINTAIN your numbers which is extremely difficult and takes a tremendous amount of effort, we are not goingto recognize that even though we know it takes a lot of effort to maintain and we don't plan on rewarding you for it. Remember when you took this job and we promised that the average rep would make at least 40k in bonus? Well yes, that was a lie too. The plan was to get you to work your tail off early on and sacrifice everything else for your job, then once you start to get the business we take all the incentive away from you. We know we made enormous mistakes in the beginning with the whole NPO message, allowing the managers to get paid for a whole year and not work, and made a lot of lies and promises to you in order to get you onboard. Oh yeah, remember when we said that we would give you a 401k match after the first year once we started making sales? Well, yes that was a lie too. We are pretty good at making lies.
I have been working very hard to be a top performer and despite all the challenges, I wasn't looking at other opportunities. The game now has changed with the bonus announcing email. I think many would be surprised, but I am now looking. After I received the INSULTING email, I contacted three recruiters today and will do everything in my power to leave. Don't even get me started regarding the fraud of a ranking report we have as well. This event will now have many of the top reps leaving the company.
