Silverado Hospice- So Cal

As a prior employee who was terminated for "performance" reasons, even though my numbers were always above goal and I was "never" written up or reprimanded can attest....the above posts are unfortunately very true. I was set up and let go by a micromanaging insecure manager who thought the best way to treat people was by intimidation and threats. Its amazing this person gets away with it, but given the fact that senior management operates the same way, its not surprising. This is the typical mentality at Silverado and it starts from the senior management team. This company was founded on the principle of helping people and making a difference. It is so unfortunate that the current management team doesn't believe in the same vision and are more concerned about covering their ineffective asses and firing the people who really care and put the company's interests first. Mr Shook and Mr Winner, I hope you have an opportunity to read some of these posts and do some research of your own. If you truly care about the people you serve and take the time to do this, I am confident you will find there are managers/senior managers that tell you what you want to hear but dont follow the Silverado philosophy. They are ruining the company both on the inside (bad overall moral) and on the outside (bad name in the community).

As much as I hate to agree, there is some truth to what everyone is writting on here. It hasn't always been this way. This used to be a great company to work for. I think the possibility of going public has caused us to loose our focus and forget why we got into this business. The back stabbing and micromanaging has gotten so bad, it has made it next to impossible to work here. I am sure thats why MM left. I suggest getting rid of the bad apples (RP, SM, BB, RP) to name a few. They are out for themselves and could care less about the employees or the company. They are so arrowgant and act like they are so superior to everyone else. Prime example....last weeks meeting.....give me an F'n break!

Another day, another interview. Getting paid to look for other jobs is great! For what this company has put me through, the least they can do is pay me to get hired elsewhere!

This is an amazing site! I was just told of it from another former Silverado employee. I cant believe there are this many people that either worked for, or are currently working (unhappily) for this company. My story is the same, except I left before I was fired. I didnt have much contact with upper management (heard alot of bad things) but my immediate manager was a royal bitch. Everything was done her way, micro-manager to the hilt and tried to intimadate everyone. So glad I am not with Silverado anymore.

Ok, just shoot me! This place is filled with ego maniacs and blow hards. I cant believe some of the people that are managing this company have been put in the positions they are in. Can you say NOT QUALIFIED!!! Thank god its the weekend.....

Another week of crap from this company. I really dont see how this place stays in business. The people they hire are clueless and the managers are even worse! Stay away from this place unless you like to be abused!!!

They are not the only ones. Half the administrators in this company are incompetent insecure idiots who fire good people to cover up their own inadequacies. I heard rumors about this company and should have listened. Its all true and now I am miserable here.

I can think of one such administrator in So Cal. L.A has a reputation for getting rid of anyone she feels threatened by, which if you follow the amount of people who have been fired out of that office, is a ton of people. She is a prime example of someone who has been promoted by other micro-managers who has no clue in how to manage people. She is a tyrant who intimadates her employees, throws them under the bus to make herself look better and when things dont go her way......quickly fires them. She must have some serious dirt on someone at corporate to be able to get away with her B.S. I cant wait to see karma catch up to her!

She is a real piece of work thats for sure. I have never worked in an office that had such low moral where the employees were continuiosly treated like scolded dogs. It started affecting how I treated patients and my personal life so I got out of there. Good luck to everyone else in that office, they will need it.

agree, she has some serious trust issues, no management skills and is a real bitch. i bet the only reason she is still around is because of the favors she provides for rp. maybe he is into the caked on make-up and 80's clothing look! loser!

You forgot to mention two faced. I have never met anyone who is so blatent about smiling to your face while she stabs you in the back. It's sad to see someone who gets so much pleasure out of making others miserable. I guess thats how she makes up for her low self esteem.

OMG, this is so funny but true! I didnt work with her much but every time I saw her it was like stepping back in time. 80's clothing, short mini skirts with chubby little legs, bleached hair and make up that looked like a mask! So true! So unprofessional, I just had to shake my head. another Silverado winner. My husband would never let me out of the house looking like that. Yicks

So is this company all bad? I am interested in this industry and would like to try and find the right fit. I have been very successful in sales but not in this industry. I know all companies have certain issues, but how does this company stack up against other home health and hospice companies?

Read the posts and judge for yourself. I can only speak of the hospice side of the business. This company has no clue about sales or how to treat the people who bring the business in the door. Instead they promote clinical people to micro manage the sales people and blame them for all the issues that arise. Never once have I heard a clinical person (administrator or nurse) admit to making a mistake. Its always sales. The managment team here are very egotistical and very unprofessional. Especially the VP and his little suck up side kick. If I were you I would stay in your industry or be very thurough when looking to get into hospice sales with any company. I would pass on this place.

I currently work for Silverado and can say its ok. I just keep my head down, make my numbers and suck up to mgt. They seem to leave me alone but I have seen what happens to anyone who doesnt drink the company punch.....c ya!
