As a former Associate, I was sent to the leadership training, with the whole theme being "Love vs. Fear." After a few months working there, I discovered that it was all fluff, and no substance. Our hospice office had 6 administrators in less than 2 years, and the policy of the office was those who remained were the ones who kissed the asses of the corporate management. Those who didn't were fired or left before they had the opportunity. I saw the #1 guy show more concern about someone feeding his dog people food than he did the concerns of the families for the safety of their loved ones in one of the communities that had a murder. I was never so embarrassed to work for any company ever. The truly healthy people, who had the good managerial skills combined with some humanity and compassion were the ones who were sent out, and they kept the totally unhealthy and psychopathic managers who abused their employees.
I wouldn't recommend Silverado to anyone as an employee. I have worked for 3 different hospices now and Silverado caused the most pain. The field staff were great, but were under so much stress. The management and corporate level needs to learn that when the field staff are treated well, that it transfers to the patients and families being well cared for, and the referrals coming in by word of mouth. The turnover is high, and the reputation of Silverado is not good in the community. Look elsewhere. No one deserves to be treated the way Silverado treats their staff.
