Shire 'looking' at Salix

Here's a newsflash from someone who actually works for Salix. Most of us are praying for the buyout and a layoff. We have a protection agreement guaranteeing every Salix employee a years salary, bonus and benefits PLUS full payout on our stock grants in the event of a sale. Those of us who have been with the company more than 5 years have thousands of shares of company stock. Many will never need to work another day if Shire buys Salix. Very few will be looking for jobs. Most will be laughing at the dolts at Shire who will remain on the treadmill of Pharma until the next layoff. Who's the idiot now?

Please buy us. Please.

Who is the idiot? You are. I'm sure "many" of your sales reps don't have enough stock to "never work again". As far as a full years salary that is typically if you get cut within one year of the sale closing- we likely won't cut any of you until after the first year to avoid paying a year severance. Also if you are over paid for your position we will adjust your salary. I got news for you kiddo- it's never good to be the one getting bought. And the pharmaceutical job market isn't what it used to be- especially for representatives with poor reputations that come from working at your company.

So yes we may purchase you on the cheap since your management team was incapable of transitioning from a small pharma company to a billion dollar company. But don't for one minute think it will be a great thing for the majority of your employees. Your board of directors will make out great which is ironic because they are put in this position because of ineptitude. Your employees sadly are the ones who will continue to suffer because of decisions made for them.

You adjust our salaries we can opt for the severance. I won't be able to retire but 3-4 hundred grand is not a bad day. Plus a year pay and full commission if let go. If I keep my job then I will be fine. Shire is a good company.

Shire would keep Salix employees and get rid of its own. As we have already seen cost is the number one concern of the new leaders. It would be cheaper to do it this way so that is what they would do. Regardless of what Shire said about bullet proofing our severance plan, there has been no changes to it for a reason.

I highly doubt anyone is going to try to purchase Salix anytime soon. The recent news sounds more like people trying to push the stock by starting speculation and rumors.

I think this article puts the Salix problems in perspective- no way our board of directors is going to do something crazy. Purchasing Salix seems "crazy" when you put the facts in perspective.

Good luck Salix- I enjoy clobbering Apriso on a daily basis. Worst mesalamine on the market- I really do feel bad that you folks are forced to sell such a crap product!

Can you read? I said clearly that those of us with the company more than 5 years have thousands of shares of stock and that many would never have to work again. In my case, "kiddo" (you condescending douchebag) it would be fantastic to be part of the company getting bought. If you, well not actually YOU but someone who matters at Shire, attempts to adjust our salaries, we get to package out with a year of salary, bonus and benefits. I know, hard to believe someone out there might be better off than a genius like you but it is true.

What a jerk. Here's what happened with us when Abbvie was in the mix. As part of the deal the Shire severance policy, was "aligned," with Abbive's, so we would have been screwed since the Abbvie policy wasn't as generous. Unless you have a contract, your "policy" if it is costly will be changed to create synergies for the buyer. Since you aren't too bright, that means you'll get less than you are crowing about. And don't assume you'll vest all your stock or that there will be a big increase. It is perfectly legal and there is not a thig you can do. So don't spend your pennies yet big boy.

Not a policy. Signed contract/agreements counter signed by our CEO. So yes, iron clad. All stock vests immediately in the event of a "change in control." Suck it.

Good for you. It sounds like your company actually values it's employees. You don't want to come here. We were sold out during our last potential buy out.

Oh gosh...I really hope we don't purchase Salix and dilute our culture with them. They are horrible- worst reputation of any company I've competed against. Dr.'s feel the same. I'm in the NY area.

I'm sure our BOD will take your requests into consideration....

Now get back to work and don't worry about things you can't control!

Yeah the docs really hate us. Ranked #1 company among GIs multiple years in a row. 49% year over year growth in net profit. 24% year over year growth for Xifaxan. They hate is so much.

They like the drug but hate the reps. I wonder what the sales would look like with better reps and better management? I bet we find out soon....
