Stryker acquired Howmedica Osteonics from Pfizer in 1998. It now makes up the "legacy" SYK ortho business in NJ.

I think the other post was referring to the culture that still lingers in the SYK ortho businesses. I agree that most SYK reps are dbags (am one) but it does vary from business to business. Our implant guys are probably the worst, where our capital reps are usually a bit better.

A little late this this thread but agree that the overall level of arrogance separates most Stryker reps from the rest of med device. I was part of the Novadaq acquisition that Stryker made and from the start they had zero interest in anything other than adding the product to the bag. The level of engagement was minimal and the overall interest in the people from Novadaq was non-existent. I attribute it to more of a lone wolf mentality. They are left to generate their own business and have to re-establish that business every year. What it makes is a person that only looks out for number one. Stryker will tout the number of former athletes in the company but the reality is that they are not good team players. They are self-promoting, look at my numbers players. Not criticising them, just making the point. Novadaq was more unified and was never going to be a good fit for the reps. That and the fact that Stryker had no intention of keeping any of them.
