SDE positions

But they do pay you handsomely on this BOB, even with the occasional adjustment that happen within just about every comp plan. According to you, or the prior poster, the only problem with the BOB is the empty feeling of getting paid well, knowing you had no control over it.

To the OP. Please note this fool can't even keep his/her lies straight.

I said there are times you are paid handsomely on your BOB.. It's Few and far between through, which i did not specify. And like the other people mentioned with all the write offs or KAE's losing business you really don't know what you are getting when you open the file. It's nonsense. Of course dipshit i know we get paid directly off of tests, however i was pointing out that weight of the payout should be on that and not the BOB. We shouldn't get paid on the BOB to be honest. As far as my grammar or how young I am, you definitley are a kool aid drinker and you clearly are in denial and have limited comprehension skills. Most people agree with me, and you are in the minority here.

Bottom line.........The money can be great but you don't have control of it. If you are used to getting paid for your direct performance this position is not for you. If you like a combination of selling alone, dual sales and some service and are technical enough then it's a great job. If all you want to do is hunt and get paid just for that, walk away.

Well said. That is it in a nutshell

Run fast! SDE's have had major turnover this year and it's because they aren't being paid. Find out what happened to the last one before you accept the job. You can't control all of the billing adjustments that magically happen each month. I didn't believe all of the posts when I first started reading them and I know everyone on cafe pharma can sound negative but there is more truth than not in many of these posts. People do not stay here long.

I took the assessment two weeks ago for an SDE position. I passed and was told I would move forward to the hiring manager. But I have not heard anything else. Does it usually take this long?

Losers who can't even keep up with our minimum standards of excellence do not last here. Learn that lesson, son. If you want o run in the big leagues you best have what it takes. Otherwise, join the ranks of the crybabies and whiners on this board who will never accomplish anything.

Saying laboratory sales is the "big leagues" gives your post zero credibility. Lab sales are a step above hospice sales. Labs are in the bottom of the category within medical sales. The order goes surgical, devices, disposables, equipment, specialty pharma, prinary care pharma, hospital lab sales, labs, hospice, home health. Labs is by far the most corrupt and shady out of any of the categories and it also has the lowest profit margins. You don't even sell, it is mainly a service job no matter what role you have there. Wave the managed care card and deal with IT issues, missed pickups, redraws, and billing issues for the majority of time. Recruiters make lab sales to be so hard and that you are a straight hunter and closer for new business but in the end you are nothing more than a service monkey. SDE's are more specialized and can talk clinical with a doc but they still deal with more service and managed care situations than clinical conversations and selling.

Came from pharma, did ya?

Normally I don't respond to posts on cafepharma but had to on this one. What did you folks do this weekend? Go to the gym? Maybe eat out at AppleBee's with your fat spouse? Can't wait for the Bachelorette? Have fun this summer wherever you live. This company sucks but I'm making good cash don't have to do sheeeeiiiit.

Aaaah yes Monday morning. Time to baby sit the IOPs again. Make cold calls? Are you kidding! Not with this crazy ass set up. When will the sales leaders wake up!

I have said this all over this board. You are a service monkey in any role you have in sales! People have called me a previous pharma rep, primadonna, can't hack it, etc.. Truth is why not title the roles for what they are. SERVICE 80% and if you are lucky enough to actually sell then you get paid shit in this comp plan. Or, you open the file and you cross your fingers because YOU control very little to your own performance and payout... Joke! Sales leaders are an absolute joke

Dead on! It's why I worked 2 hours today. It's a complete joke.

Ask to see the numbers before you accept the position if offered to you. Ask about the market and the managed care position in the market. Then and only then can you decide whether to accept or run for your life.

This is probably the best advice you can get here.. However, if you do ask these questions they will consider you too smart and somebody they can't manipulate. So, if you want the job and they offer you, ask for a ride along with a rep in the managers district and ask that person these questions and hope u get the truth. Thats what i would do
