S3...blessing or curse?

If I understood the slide deck correctly, the S3's will all be ranked against each other and somebody will have to fall at the bottom of that pile of "do gooders" and consequently will be paid (or not paid) accordingly. These S3's are not used to being at the bottom, so it will be interesting to sit back and watch it all play out this fall. Me? I'm glad to be an S2, ranked against the other S2's and S1's. To answer the original question.....CURSE, IMHO.

S3 that ranks low after first year becomes an S2 with bigger pay, no extra jobs. What curse? Job security, bigger pay and better things ahead...predict some of the few given the choice to stay as the cuts begin. Blessing, hands down.

It's a curse if you want to be let go to collect severance and move on to truly better things ahead (i.e., pharma is so over).

Severence is not much and weeks go fast. Stop complaining, you can move on now if you mean what you say.

No complaints here...just making the case for S3 being a curse if one hopes to be laid off. BTW, severance can be quite substantial if you have 20+ years. See no reason to move on before collecting that fat check.

I've been reading through most of the comments. Some are good and true. Some not so much. I will say that of the S3 reps that were chosen in our area, only 1 of them probably should not have been chosen as a peer leader. The real issue was with who they decided to offer the interviews to. How could you offer an interview to someone who barely speaks and would dare not even try to tell a tenured rep how to do their job? How do you offer an interview to someone who was on a PIP the year before because they didn't know their products but the new manager liked her? Some of them knew not to even interview which slotted them in the S2 position just because they were offered the interview. What a way to get a promotion? If they weren't going to interview, they should have been put back in the S1 slot especially since they were CRII to begin with! Then they would have been given a choice... if you interview and get it... you're an S3, interview and don't get it, you're an S2, choose not to interview, you're an S1. Those managers interviewing would have really been able to see how unprepared some folks were to be in such a position. Such a disgrace... oh well...

I say let them have at it....Do S3 really think they have the skill sets to do better than anyone else? The entire process was politically drive and a true farce...

True and more true. See who are chosen for anything. Who likes you, who are you buddy with, who is the mangers pet. You can predict it all in glance...same group.
