rotech troubles

I will soon be an ex employee of Rotech. I have to say that it has been an eye opener. I can't wait to give notice and get the two week period over. Anyone who thinks about going to work for this company should really look else where, at least in the region I work(ed) in.
The trouble started in Dec/Jan when the rifs and change in regions took place. Before that it seemed like an ok company.
Rotech is in trouble and I hope the people at the location levels get out before it is to late.
I haven't been able to figure out why Rotech doesn't want to help the locations successed. Everytime you try to get something going they rip the rug right out from under you.
The sales reps are next. All the trackers, how do they have time to get anything done. The lack of training is another problem. They don't train anyone. There is no training scheduled in my region for SR or LCMS.
As for lack of training and this may give me away but I don't care. I was hired 9 months ago and received no training. I asked every month and I got the same answer, we need you at the location. That was fine until the write ups started. I asked how I can be writen up for something I was never trained to do. The answer I got back, "we are trying to help you and want you to successed as an LCM", how by writing me up?
I did meet some really good people at Rotech, most were at the location level. The upper management, above the AM's, SUCKS!!!!!
Anyone who wants to work for this company should really think again. I know I wrote that twice but it is important.
I won't go into how I almost got someone fired for asking for help. Or how I wanted vacation but had no staff to cover. They found staff really quick after I hand them my letter.
I want everyone to know that reads this that I am not Apria or Airgas, I am someone who wants to get the word out about how poorly run the company is and how hard they make it for people at the location level.
Last but not least, GOODBYE ROTECH

I KNOW WHERE YOU ARE COMING FROM. I AM A FORMER ROTECH EMPLOYEE WHO SAW IT ALL. ROTECH IS A FAILING CO. THAT HAS NO DIRECTION OR PURPOSE. CHAPTER 11 WON'T HELP THIS TIME. A VET WOULD SAY IT'S TIME TO PUT THE OLD ,SICK DOG DOWN. YOU HAVE MADE A WISE CHOICE AND I WISH YOU WELL.

I also forgot to say We care about pt care is a lie. I feel so bad for these pts, they have non trained people telling them that there cpap is fine and the meds they get are wrong, you should use this med instead. If pts are looking at this they should use another company. I want my old location to work, but only for the people that work there. There have been enough rifs already.

I to feel so bad for these patients, the oxygen patients are never seen for 6 months unless they call with a problem, the Cpap patients are set up then never checked on again. Of course they will be non compliant because the mask doesn't fit but no one has ever checked them again, they come in complaining about the Cpap and who is there it listen and take care of them. The CSR. Thats not fair to the patient or the CSR(who didn't ask to do the job of the clinician on their salary.

Again, I don't get it. WHAT IS EVERYONE THINKING? Why in the name of heaven would a non clinician EVER be discussing meds with a patient????? If that is happening, that is because he doesn't know better which is the LCM's fault!!!! If a cpap pressure is accurate according to a manometer and the mask fits fine and they are still having trouble,,,Auto cpap? auto bipap? Call the doctor for crying out loud!!!! These are not clinical suggestions!!!! No wonder you all are having difficulty! you're creating all your own problems!!!!

I did forget to post one thing, I didn't have enough staff to keep up with everything. I know there are people out in Rotech land that have full time RT's and two or three CSRs and at least two drives. Not this location, they cut my CSR's to the bone and dumped more work on them. If you don't have someone who is clinical on staff you shouldn't called any docs to tell them auto cpap/bipap. All Rotech has is non clinical people, they cut all their clinical people, how can anyone but a non clinical person calling the doc. I wish people on this site had the balls to post anything but Anonymous. I have a feeling the last poster is a higher up that can't get their act together and is bring the company down one bonus at a time.

As for bonus, I have info about the RIF's in Dec. The top two in the company spilt a 2.5 million bonus for cutting all those people. This does come from a creditable source. I know that one of the people that were let go still hasn't found a job but those two guys get 1.25 million a piece, isn't that nice.

I am just warning EVERYONE, Rotech is a sinking ship and you may want to jump that ship as soon as possible.

I can't figure out how I was creating my own problems. NO training, RIF's and pay cuts. I did that, I don't think so. Paying per diem RT's next to nothing, no wonder they can't fill the paperwork out, or be on time. I don't know who you are and really don't care. You must be a higher up, one of the ones who create the problems and let it roll down hill.

How would you know if the mask fits correct? The person that was setting CPAP's up before I got there, their claim to fame, "I wear a CPAP myself". WOW that is great now tell me how that has any bearing on mask fitting?

I am glad I am done with this company. I will update how they treat me for the last two weeks, if they keep on that long.

OK PrivateJoker, grow a pair and say who YOU are! What have you got to lose? And where was your AM in all this?

At least PrivateJoker had enough of a "pair" to actually create a login ID and sign in.

And since PrivateJoker has submitted a 2 weeks notice , he may already have identified himself with at least a few people.

I will let you know who I am. It will just take two weeks. I'm sure that people in my area know who I am. I left enough info.
My AM was there but I had 5 years of stuff to clean up. Its hard when your AM is 2-3 hours away. They have other locations that need help as well. I'll let everyone know if they pull the help us this week and then tell me not to come back for my last week. It would be like my RM to pull that. :p

Your RM must be Jeff Brewer and your AM must be Rick Higgins that's how they are no help but they can hand out the write ups. Reports reports that's all they know. Good Luck with your new job.

What did you expect? Why would you assume trust? I spent many years at Rotech, and believe me when I say that trust is not upheld as important. You are told in upper level meetings to skirt the truth at all costs if an employee asks you if something is going on. People who were my colleagues and whom I took as close friends, stabbed me in the back at the same time they were shaking hands with me and looking me in the eye. These were people I trusted, who I spent countless hours with talking and stategizing, and who I believed would always do the right thing. It is strictly business, my friends. That's why there is no conscience to it. Notice how so many rifs over the years were right at Christmas? Family, children, finances, economy...none of it taken into account. I know that it is not just Rotech, other companies do that as well, but why be a part of that? Believe me when I say one meal at a Regional meeting could keep a PST on for 3 more months-no exaggeration. Bottom line, EBITDA-that's what it is about. You have locations shoot for 30%. Do you all realize many businesses operate on a .2-.3% EBITDA? Why do you think the government has cut this industry and will continue to do so? This industry is right in the crosshairs of the new healthcare reform act. Good luck, your patients need you, but that may not be enough....

That EBITDA certainly does not allow for opening and expanding A DME business either. Rotech thinks that purchasing old horses is a great strategy....instead of building something that works---AND over time increases EBIDTA.

I was going to say Regional Manager RS and Area Manager GB

This is very close. The RM is correct.
Had a very interesting talk with AM today. May DME companies are giving out portable conc for portably. I lost two pt in one day and will more than likely lose at least one more this week. I asked how my SR was to compete with other companies that give the pts what they want. No really good response from my AM.
Rotech is a reactive not proactive company.

I just gave a possible new CSR her offer, what a joke, it was like a slap in the face for her. I don't think she will take the job which will screw the location. I can't blame her, I couldn't live on what they were going to pay her.

For those that asked me to grow a pair, I think I said enough here to give me away

Personally I think that the (RS) should keep out of the locations business. She could not run a location and she cannot determine what is right for the location to do. Unfortunately I had to meet with her on numerous occasions and I wasn't impressed by her at all. She and others should sit on their throwns away from everyone else and worry about HIA, NC and Points.

Good luck with your next job. Trust me, if you stay in DME after Rotech like I did, you will notice the change the first day on the job.

What you are saying we who watch this board have been saying post the first round of rif's in 2003.

This is old news and just goes to show that things have not changed and will not change a Blotech until they dump the whole BOD.

I am sorry you had to experience the horror but I have to say I am sure if you have read this board you would have to agree that we have told you so.

So, for all those looking to work here! Take heed. Don't!

Changing the BOD and Cheese won't do any good! They've made their beds and burnt their bridges starting long ago. Rotech is ruined far beyond any means. The sooner all acknowledge this, the better.

Here we go again. I get a call from my AM today saying that I am begin written up for my HIA, again. I have no CSR and I am the only one in the location. I am also on my way out. How stupid can RS get, I mean come on you wrote me up before, never trained me and now you want to write me up. This company is in trouble and I really feel bad for the people at that location.
The best thing I've done for my career is quit Rotech.

That is insane. There is no justification for doing that, seeing how since you put your notice in. What does your AM say about this?? I would think that he/she can't believe it either.

Assuming next friday will be your last day, all I can say is tough it out for the next 2 weeks and take their garbage. It is much better to leave with a notice rather than quitting. I'm sure that you can get other LCM/LSM for a reference letter, if you havent done so already.

When I left, I had several Specialists / PCP's write me letters commending me on my services, rather than dealing with Blotech personnel. Might be worth looking into if you developed relationships with any of them.
