Rheumatology Specialty Positions (New)

I am glad I was not contacted for the second interview, because the more I think about this opportunity, the more I see that working with Pfizer for anything, is like the biggest nightmare in my life.

That company is just terrible, because they treat their employees like cattle.

That is sooooo true. The latest company to join these ranks is Takeda!Once great culture, just another mini-Pfizer!!!!

It is what it is. I will tell you this, if we have another 4 years of these Washington DC policies in place, we are going to be in big trouble. We already are in big trouble, but it will get much worse, because companies are not going to invest with the policies that are in place now. If we get new leadership in DC in Novemeber, we could see another good run in the pharmaceutical industry and many blockbusters come to market in the next 2 to 5 years.

Anyone hear anything following an interview this week? Utilizing a "training manager " to screen candidates is ridiculous....the guy had no clue as to what the Rheum marketplace is like in my geography. He was expressionless....could not deviate at all from his requisite STAR questions.

Yes, i heard from the recruiter that i will be moving on the next interview.
Thought my interview went well. Even thought the guy was not familiar with disease state etc. It was a basic pretty easy interview.

if you have ever sold to rheums, you will figure it out.
So your research. It will probably be a mirrored territory to someone from Pfizer

Why, are rheums from another planet?

Sales is sales. If you are good at talking to people and have exposure with other specialty doctors, then I don't see how selling to rheums is different.

Trust me there is no difference. My problem with this gig is it is a 15 month contract with huge territories and no car. You will burn up a car here in 15 months and then what a rollover to Pfizer? Lots of questions with this one!

Hey you will get a nice allowance plus mileage which should cover gas.
My car is paid off so I would just pocket the money and put it away to get a new car if I need it. How many miles do you think you will put on your car in 15 months. I had a territory with a lot of driving and in 15 months only put on about 45,000. The territory I am interviewing for is not that big with alot of the main players within 45 minuites of where I live so not a big deal. Its a good opportunity to launch a drug and call on specialists.

I am not saying its not a good job, but if the payoff is a job working directly for Pfizer no thanks!

You are clueless on so many levels:

a. 45,000 on a car kills at least 1/3 of the car life.

b. lauching a drug doesn't mean crap.

c. pharma is done, get over it. it is an industry left over for substitute teachers, strippers, and hookers.

Agree with this. You drug reps need to find another way to make a living, and fast!

What the hel will you people do when the industry goes using 75% contract trps in the next 3 years?

If you are in contract sales, it is not stable, it is not a good opportunity ever. Public is is lying to you if they are telling you that you will eventually work for Pfizer.

They are in a position to lie because otherwise no qualified candidates would take this job. They are misrepresenting what this job is. Please don't trust them!

You know what is terrible about it all?

Even if stupid Pfizer, or whatever stupid pharma company that PSS works for, picks you up, you are still in pharma!

Look at the reps in pharma. They are tired. They are depressed. They always seem to walk around the field with that look in their eyes, that they know they could lose there jobs any day now.

Now, how the heck can you sell with any confidence with that mindset?

Also, with that negative mindset everywhere, the managers become micromangers, because they know that they do nothing and they know that they are the first ones that should be let go, because they do nothing....

Its just a mess. The entire industry is an absolute mess.

My guess is that 80 percent of the people in this industry are wierd. I look back on my pharma interviews (I worked in the industry in the 90s and early 00s), and most of the interviews were with a bunch of morons. So political in their approach. It never had anything to do with selling.

Its an industry left over for a bunch of fakers.

Yea, but the POAs would be great!!

This job is only good for someone who is about to retire, and just wants a few bucks before retirement.

Maybe for a recent graduate, looking for some more experience (but, they would never get hired).

If you are a mid level sales person, this is a terrible job.

Now, if these people had more class and rolled over people (why would you want to get rolled over into pharma, I have no idea), then maybe it would be worth it. But, they offer no incentive on this contract. No development opportunities for your career.

Personally, I am just sick and tired of companies that treat educated professionals like minimum wage employees, just because the economy is bad, and they can get away with it.

Smart people would move on from this "opportunity" and find a company that will pay fairly (I don't even think this job is fair pay, considering the huge territories for most people), and at least make an attempt to develop their employees.

If someone is well aware of what this job is, then why not? Money is ok and you know up front it is only 18 months. Frankly, any job in pharma is a year to year contract.
I have launched several new drugs and it's the best case now in this industry. At least Drs are interested in hearing what you have to say. Yes , this job may have some negatives, but it could be worse.

The money is OK, but in 18 months, what do you have?

Sales is about building relationships and using those relationships to make money. When the contract is over, you have build up a business that you are not going to get any fruit for after 18 months.

Anyone with any talent and vision, would NOT take this job.

Just my two cents, and I can understand why some might disagree.

Yep! This is a job for someone who is unemployed and NEEDS it. Don't believe the lies from Publicus and Pfizer about this being a good opportunity. It's a good short term bandaid.
