RETIREE MEDICAL BENEFIT OF LUMP SUM OF $25,000 GONE!

Ok, got my letter today. So, first off there was no $25k lump sum pay out to retirees to help pay for medical costs. What there was was a medicare supplement plan option that you had to pay for and had a 25k max pay out.
It was not a very good plan. The reason retirees bought it was it was mandatory if you wanted to continue to insure your pre 65 year old spouse with the AZ plan, and to also receive AZ meds free. Beginning in 2021 you will need to look for another medicare supplement plan or just get medicare part d to cover your prescriptions and costs medicare doesn’t cover. However, your spouse can still be covered under AZ plans and you will get AZ drugs free for 7 years.
No big deal.

To the people saying no big deal, this is not true if you are disabled and live in one of the seven states that do not provide Medigap plans to people on Medicare that are under 65 -you are completely screwed. I wish I knew which consulting company brought them the information. In The state familiar to me -Medigap coverage premiums ONLY will be $60,000 for the next four years that is just the premium it’s $1200 a month versus the $65 that I was paying. This does not include my Medicare premiums for part B nor Medicare part D or my deductibles and coinsurance. I didn’t asked to become disabled. But this really sucks. In states that do not allow Medigap plans to deny coverage for disabled the cost is three times as much as for the person over 65 again just for the Medigap premium not including part D premiums. Meantime AZ is enjoying spending all those taxpayer dollars we gave them for a Covid vaccine, believe me a lot of those tax dollars were mine. Pray you don’t get sick mr no big deal.
