Well the cheap bastards have screwed it’s retirees! Upon reaching Medicare coverage, AZ provided this benefit which really came in handy to help pay for medical benefits. You guys will never see it and they just screwed the ones that help make AZ what it is today! Pascal, you are one sorry son-of a-bitch to approve this!

They are making billions & this is how they treat their retirees !!! The same people that helped build their “ empire” are cast aside in order for Pascal to deepen his pockets !!! AZ should be ashamed .

When I retired I took nothing from the AZ clown show. but what I had coming to me. I wanted nothing to do with them. They could shove their 25K in retirement health care benefits up their collective asses as far as I was concerned. Typical big pharma losers and nothing but ladder climbers and greedy bastards. The worst of humanity. Glad to be rid of them.

Oh it's OK, the millions for Pascal has to come from somewhere.

So what exactly changed? It sounds really low but i've only been here 5 years so not sure what 25K benefit is being discussed ( although im sure i wouldnt have qualified )....

FUCK AZ!!! This is how those of us are rewarded for working decades with this company. Those of you still employed with them understand how they will screw you if you make it to retirement.

I just recieved Medicare 8/1/2020. Signed up for the Aetna/Dental $25K plan which cost, $124.63/month. So after the you annual ded. then the amount comes out of this $25K, on what Medicare does not pay. Also your Rx's will come out of this, but not your AZ meds. I do not take any Rx meds. Medicare payment of $144.60/month comes out of my SS check each month.
I was paying $601.23.month for my wife and I before I got on Medicare.
A very good plan. Now when my wife hits Medicare next year, our total out of pocket per month for medical, rx will be over $800/month. So get ready for $10K/year out of pocket. I would say we spend now $16K in 2020, for all medical cost including medical, rx, eye doc, glass, dental.
It's ugly.
Also at AZ headquarters in the UK, look how much they spent on that NEW bldg. I will get you the number and report back.

I lost my AZ retiree health insurance 3 yrs ago when they pulled it for those not yet 55 by the end of 2020!! Many of us planned on retiring early and using that till medicare age! That was the jerkiest thing ever for many of us that started younger and had lots of years of service in..Too late to leave and get it elsewhere:(! I’m sure the big wigs will be completely taken care of!
I’m sorry they took this away too!!

Ok, the NEW headquarters in the UK will cost over $1,300,000,000...BILLION $$$$$ dollars, that is 3 TIMES what they expected it to cost. Now is that one DUMB....BLOKE!
Doc Martin would NOT like this. So, how many new RX's do you get from this over built ugly building? Zero, Zilch, NADA, NOTHING.....nice going! Fair Warning!

Been here 5 years? You get NOTHING! NADA! ZILCH! Enjoy the ride. Something better comes along...take it!
You work for a company where the ceo bemoaned to the media about being one of two of the lowest paid pharma ceo's @$13M/yr. I'm sure that's sans stock, milestone incentives, etc. I'll try one year at $13M and report back this time in 2021 how I just couldn't make it! Bless the Baguette's heart!

Ok, got my letter today. So, first off there was no $25k lump sum pay out to retirees to help pay for medical costs. What there was was a medicare supplement plan option that you had to pay for and had a 25k max pay out.
It was not a very good plan. The reason retirees bought it was it was mandatory if you wanted to continue to insure your pre 65 year old spouse with the AZ plan, and to also receive AZ meds free. Beginning in 2021 you will need to look for another medicare supplement plan or just get medicare part d to cover your prescriptions and costs medicare doesn’t cover. However, your spouse can still be covered under AZ plans and you will get AZ drugs free for 7 years.
No big deal.

Thank you for this. I am assuming you are retired from AZ?

I ask because active employees who qualify based on age and years of service received an email roughly a week ago talking of this change but it did not include all the good info you just posted as to what exactly it was that we were losing.

You’re welcome. Yes, recently retired and now starting medicare.
In past posts there were complaints about AZ’s medicare supplements plan, especially the 25k cap. Some expensive meds and a hospital stay could use that up quickly. But you had to buy it for the other benefits. So all in all this is actually good news. Can now buy a better, less costly plan and still keep the AZ benefits of insuring dependents and receive AZ meds free.

Good to know for future reference. With this COVID environment limiting access to HCP'S (and access wasn't great to begin with), we might find ourselves "retired" sooner than we had anticipated.
