Well, more bad news: an injectable bisphosphonate... once a year, good data... only costs over $1000 a shot which the doc must buy and get stuck with what Medicare/ private insurance doesn't pay.... another Novartis good intention .... what happens if there are side effects....?
So we really think all this physician training is gonna pay off?

Really if you don't like it find another job. Drs will know what is being covered and for some patients with secondary insurance they will not have to pay anything. If I had osteo., I would do this in a second.

This sounds like a perfect answer for someone like me who shouldn't take Oral Meds. I am trying to find out the cost. I have heard anywhere from $1,042.00 to between $3,500.00 - $4,000.00. Does anyone know?

If you have insurance or medicare its covered. If someone is quoting you a price or $3500 they are outright stealing. No way no how.
If you don't have insurance check with patient assistance.

you pussy! this drug/compound has been used for years (not for PMO). what the hell do you want!? also, if you really do sell reclast you would know that nearly all of the cost is covered by B.

i've been trying my best to push this thing but docs are very cautious. most say they'll take a wait and see approach and may refer to someone else their hard cases..
actonel/fosamax are killing me

The cost is supposedly similar to a year's worth of other once weekly bisphosphonates, which is around $800. I haven't seen anything from AHFS or www.drugstore.com for the cost.

Side effects were minor, however there was an increased incidence of atrial fibrillation versus placebo. I don't remember the exact numbers, but it was around 50 for ZOL group and around 20 for the placebo group. The issue here was that atrial fibrillation occurred after 30 days in all patients, while any electrolyte imbalances from ZOL occurred within 9-11 days of infusion. So they currrently don't know why that happened...

This is the friggin drug associated with ONJ disorders in patients with cancer and once the bastard is infused there is nothing you can do without it! Fosamax got blamed and this one is the HO!

What the hell are you talking about. Get your facts straight!

Fosamax is the gold standard for the treatment of osteoporosis... Reclast on the other hand is an oncology drug that gold diggers are pushing in the osteo market at the risk of patients.... good thing fosamax is going generic and create real value for the patients!

Fosomax costs roughly $90 to $100 a month currently. That is $1080 to $1200 a year. Reclast is the same price.

The ease of use once a year will be worth the extra cost even after Fosomax goes generic.
