Racial quotas now at Pfizer - white men need not apply

This is all complete rubbish. Discrimination is wrong period. Even when discrimination goes against the hated white men, it is still wrong. End of story. Stop defending discrimination.

Where is the justification for discrimination? How is making moves to remove discriminatory obstacles wrong? How is opening doors to minorities that have been stopped from crossing the threshold wrong?

Do you believe that processes and decisions were all non-discriminatory up until now and now they are discriminatory against whites? A little discrimination has significant ripple effects. It results in your minority colleagues getting fewer opportunities, smaller raises, taking much longer to get promoted, requiring much more to be deemed qualified. Next thing you know you’re working alongside a colleague making $25-30k less than you doing the same job. Then that colleague leaves for a $40K raise at another company who appreciates that talent.

Its not a good look to invest so much in colleagues only to make it so easy and enticing for them to leave.
 




I don’t think Pfizer would be taking these measures if they didn’t need to correct years of letting minority talent languish and go unrecognized. Plus, there is a battle for talent across our industry. The company can’t afford to let the talent they want to keep to leave for greener grass.

The assumption is that the superior candidate gets hired or gets promoted. Too often it comes down to 2-3 great candidates and only one position. Then it comes down to fit - do I like this person? Will this person fit in with the team? Will this person cause trouble? The unconsciously biased mind will almost always default to the one who shares a familiar background, educational history, or speech pattern and dress as well as likes and dislikes in order to answer these questions.

Minorities are disadvantaged in these cases. Don’t assume that there are so many all white teams because no minorities want those roles or are unqualified for them. What you often see are managers cloning themselves through their teams. You’ll never see minority managers do that.
When only 56% graduate high school and 13% graduate college, there's not much you can do.

They now have mandatory quotas. They are forcing the hiring of non-whites and women to satisfy mandated percentages. Their discrimination is now formalized and set in writing. The blatant discrimination that once was only understood is now set in writing. The pressure to hire and promote anyone but a white male is enormous. You are ok with it because it fits with your narrative. Everyone justifies this discrimination because it is against white men and is seen as pay-back.
 




We lowered the minumum requirements to get an interview in hopes of expanding the diversity of applicants.... and ultimatley hires.... the experiment (in the division i worked for) increased the applicant diversity pool 10x and PFE gets the federal credit... but the net hire rate was a whooping 40.. and of those 40 many didnt pass background/ license or drug tests... i was in the know on this project divisionally w HR. Then they laid my blexican ass off too.....
 




When your bosses income has increased 937% since 1978 and yours has increased only 5.7% during that same time period, it’s time to stop blaming minorities for your failures and woes. IJS!!!!

Being the only one or just one of a few in a room is not so bad.

It was watching the close networks of folks who shared so much in common with one another, travelled on vacations together and were invited to one another’s homes that made it feel like some of us were on the outside looking in.
 




No it is not! With quotas, it is outright discrimination both based on skin color and also on gender. It's ok though because the discrimination is against white men.
This form of affirmative action was going on years ago and we had some poor hires to fulfill the companies agenda on increasing minorities. If they were the best great, but we were being asked to overlook and select a minority. This was years ago and results were horrible
