My man you had seven Genentech rep is three years because they took their money and got out. Ever since Roche took over, that place has become a horrible place to work and they can no longer attract top talent. Your N of 1 does not trump what 400 plus oncologists stated, that Eisai reps are bottom of the barrel. I mean seriously we have an old CTCL drug that no one cares about and we have Dacogen which is a dog. Sure this lowers an oncologists opinion of the reps who carry those drugs but the flip side is highly regarded, experienced oncology reps would not be caught dead working for Eisai or selling our dog drugs.
And sorry as great of a supportive care drug Aloxi is antiemetics do not get anyone excited, just like Fragmin never got anyone excited.
The best reps get hired by the best companies, who pay more, have better benefits and perks, and have potential big gains from the stock. Highly regarded oncology reps always follow big product launches or companies that pay well above the norm. It has always been like that since the days of bleo and adriamycin! If you don’t know this you are very green. Look at the Dendreon sales force, it is primarily made up of Genentech, Chiron, and Biogen reps and they didn’t even need to use recruiters as almost all were internal referrals! You slugs will never get how oncology really works!
Eisai offers nothing to attract top talent. Look around you. All the good MGI and Ligand people left a long time ago. The CCO people were glorified primary care reps with zero therapeutic oncology experience and most will go back into mass market or “hospital sales” roles. Most of the new people we have brought in either have been out of work for a long time and are desperate ie. not top talent, or are very new to oncology (or no oncology experience at all) and thought that working at “little” Eisai would be more laid back and less micromanaged than working at BIG Novartis. Guess they called that one wrong!
Why would anyone be surprised that Eisai ranked the lowest on a list of “top reps”!!!
If you disagree you have not been to ASCO or ASH in last five years. There is zero buzz about Eisai Oncology either form our clinicians or from oncology sales and marketing people. No one was breaking down the doors to come to Eisai to sell Halaven!
