What you all don't understand is that to succeed here you first have to fail. I've been fired from the company twice and I still work here. It's the best company I've ever worked for. All I have to do is constantly agree with Pete no matter what he says. You would not believe how much butt I get to kiss. I love it! Also, if there are people you are managing that think you care about their best interests, you can't ever worry about their well being. You have to sell them up the river for your own benefit. I also have magnificent hair.

Polymedco is now changing our business strategy again and going to try to hire a few suckers to sell in the physicians market. Get ready to get fired! What a joke! I can't wait to get out of here!

You no tallent pussy! Just man up and admit you suck! Those of us who have been here for 15 plus years know the truth. We have great products and know how to build a market. We are saving lives every day and if your pussy ass can't handle it, quit. Otherwise quit putting down the company!!!

The products at Polymedco maybe good products, but if you have been there for 15 years and are an example of the type of people who form a long career at the company, I am not surprised by the previous posts or high turn over rate. Apparently, Polymedco keeps the unprofessional, angry, and derogatory individuals. You, sir, more than any other individual post, have degraded the company.

This post further reiterates the competency and professionalism you can look forward to at Polymedco. A. He can't even correctly spell talent. B. If you have been at Polymedco 15 years...who is really the "no talent pussy"? The talented Reps move on quickly to better positions at real companies.

Please check out Polymedco's facebook page and a "man" by the name Miles Webber who seems to "like" and comment on many of Polymedco's posts. Miles Webber is a character from Golden Girls. The name of the actor is Harold Gould. They just took his picture off IMDB and have been using it to boost their facebook page. What an amazing company!

So great! There are definitely 3 "reps" working for polymedco now. Pete is absolutely disconnected. A couple of guys just actually started selling the thing themselves when they got fired a few years ago & are doing well. Its pretty easy to make money when you're buying something for 50 cents and selling it for 7 or 8 dollars. This company now sells a complete commodity. They've missed the window. Ask yourself: would you take a job selling strep tests to doctors offices? (They do that by the way).

Great job Pete. Your lack of leadership sunk the company.

I have to post here for my own good. I am an individual who works with a large medical organization and over the past few years have been contacted by a nubmer of different new Polymedco reps. Each one claims that they are going to be different and that they have all of the answers to why we don't screen enough patients. I don't know what they are taught in training but they are completely off base when it comes to how FIT works in a facility like ours. While we obviously see the need to screen patients, we don't have the ability to force MDs to do a test and we still need to operate a business in a responsible way. The new reps seem to think that just because a test catches CRC earlier (I know the lingo well) it is worth it. The truth is that a patient being treated for CRC does not impact our budget in any way. It is done outside our facility and has no impact on us. The latest new rep visited me this week and gave the same old speach and tried to convince me that because Kaiser did the test it would make sense for us. Haven't heard that before (oh yea, I have a bunch of times). Please stop sending these reps to me. They mean well but have no clue.

Oh yea, FIT is a good test and I am sure the Automated version is very good. However, the manual tests are also far superior to what we are currently using and they are a fraction of the price.

Sincerely,

Bugged by Idiots

Amen Sister, could not of said it any better. Manual FIT cost $5 vs $10 for automated test plust cost of instrument. Manual test results can be communicated to the patient at time of visit, automated not so much. Automated equals more profit for Polymedco, manual equals more competition and lower cost for provider. Just because kaiser pays $10 per test doesnt mean that I should too, I'll stick with my PSS rep and ignore the ever changing Polymedco rep, sorry.

I worked at Polymedco for several years. I personaly never really understood why others worked there in outside sales for more than 3 years myself but I had several good friends who did. It is and always has been in my opinion a sales school with excellent products. You can actually saves someones life and that in itself is worth something. I've had a doctor thank me for bringing IFOT to his practice because of such. I looked at this board because I just recieved a news letter they send out on my personal e-mail address and it got me to googeling. Bottom line is that many people including myself who work at Polymedco and "make it" end up moving on up the ladder in other companies. Say what you want, it is a very difficult enviroment sometimes, but those who cut the mustard will most likely move on into larger roles at another place. As for the turnover rate how many people do you know that stay in college for more than 5 years. It was a pretty young environment when I was there and we had a lot of fun and made long lasting friends.
I can tell you I work for a market leader in another industry today and 90% of the people who are reps at this company could not make it at Polymedco. It's not a slight against the reps, but it is a fact. If you're they type of person who wants to brochure and quote drop you will never make it at Polymedco. Go ahead and flame me for my post, I'll read your comments when I look on here in another three years. As far as Pete goes, the man can be difficult and at times and your quota can get tough, but most people I know who have made it to his level are perfectionist and expect everyone else to be. He is a live to work type person. If you don't like that type of environment get out of corporate America and go to work for Unicef. You will save yourself a ton of grief in the long run. The stuff about VL posted on here baffles me. When I knew him he was a very good person, stern sometimes but also very fair. Bottom line is that if you want to see what you're made, and go to grad school for medical sales, no matter how long you've been selling this might be a very good fit. Otherwise go work for PSS and sell out of a magazine.

Way to stick up for Vince, Jay. What a joke! If Polymedco represented itself as a company where you could work for a few years, learn the business and then move on to bigger and better things, there would not be so much negativity directed at the company. The FACT is that they bill the company as a place where you can make a ton of money, grow in your career and continue to make more money year after year. It is sold as a long term decision with future products on the horizon and real career growth opportunities. How many times did Ed Grimly with Tits (Pete) sit in a meeting and tell us all lies about how we would be adding 30 new reps and multiple manager positions througout the country? None of this ever happened and it was the same story year after year. The guy has no clue what he is going to do from day to day. Were you there when he said they were going to build out the new Chicago office and add 10+ new inside sales people? If you were, you would know that it like his other satements never happened. As a matter of fact, he got rid of the inside sales staff he had which were all brough on witht he promise of advancement. As for making more money year after year, everyone who has worked for Poly for more than a year understands that you will make what Pete wants you to make. The comp plan will change a minimum of 3 times a year and promises of payment that never come are frequent. Most reps are so scared to loose their jobs they just give up on asking for what is due them so they don't get on Pete's radar screen.

Good luck if you take one of these great jobs with significiant career opportunities! Ha Ha!

Don't worry, it's just Polymedco's "marketing department" hard at work. They try to keep a healthy ratio of one good post to every 50 bad posts. They(she) will now go back to mastering minesweeper or whatever they do. I always had a feeling they only worked once every three years.

I also love that they made sure to qualify the OUTSIDE sales part because the inside sales department only exists for about a year at a time then its dissolved. As for the turnover rate, what the hell does it have to do with being in college for 5 years?? If Pete was such a perfectionist he would realize how much turnover costs him and perfect hiring and RETAINING employees.

But I can say working for Polymedco was a good thing for me. I realized how broken the healthcare industry is if a man like Pete can succeed. Polymedco is a great place to see if you lack the soul and moral compass to succeed in medical sales.

Fact of the matter is, Pete is a dictator and ultimately he has complete control over what happens.

Aside from the complete lack of respect and constantly changing demands, which you might be able to get at any corporate job, it was the fact that at his discretion Pete could literally refuse to pay someone an earned commission on a whim and proved that he didnt even need to inform you before doing so. He would just do it. Could be as much as $1500 without so much as a "Hey, by the way..." As a sales person, that is basically a Zebra sized mushroom slap in the face. Especially when he buys a new Maserati after having done so.

Its a bad company. You can say what you want from a positive side, but when working there I knew of maybe 5 people that had been there for more than 3 years. Thats pretty sad. When more people have left in a 12 month period than are even working at the company at any given point in time, you know that there must be some issue.

If you are looking at this message board because you are considering a position at the company, do yourself a favor and really take a look. When you see the same issues arising over multiple years of posts (and there are other threads you can pull up to reference as well) you have to start to see that it isnt just some of the "bad apples" complaining about how they couldnt cut it.

Take the job if you really need it, but go into it with your eyes open. FIT is a great product, and Polymedco has the best, but from a career standpoint, be prepared to regret your decision. It shouldnt take more than 3 months for your commission plan to change, your boss to give you no rationale as to why, and for the facade to start to break away. Oh, and be prepared to answer personal questions if you interview with Pete, because he seems himself as God, theres no reason that should make you uncomfortable in his mind.

Let Aaron and Jay take over already, Pete. You are out of touch with reality. Stop micro-managing and let go. Your rich, we all know it, you never let us forget it. What more do you need? I know your reading this, too many posts get deleted for you to be ignoring it. Its just sad at this point. You want Polymedco to be Cardinal Health, or Siemens, or GM, but it isnt, and wont be. Not with you at the helm because you refuse to take any advice or EVER admit that maybe you are wrong. Great leaders are willing to figure out what they might be doing wrong and surround themselves with people who can help. You surround yourself with Yes Men and keep Polymedco stuck in the 80s from a corporate culture standpoint. Times have changed, bud. Get out before someone goes Postal on your ass, because we all know you deserve it. How many new reps have left recently? Can you really keep telling yourself its because they arent "the right people" even after your "top-grading" douche of a guru has "changed things?" You HAVE to start to see that its you...right?

Re: Lot of false information here

One of the funniest posts I've ever read on this website. Let me see if I have this right. There are hundreds of posts about how crappy this company is and how many people have come and gone in a rapid period of time. Yet we have one person declaring what a great gig it is. I think I'll go with the 99% and call you a moron.

I just barfed a little. Pete's wife had to of written this.

Like many of the folks posting here, I was a top-notch employee before joining Poly and I've been a top-notch employee since I left. But during my time there, I was an idiot. That's the Polymedco way -- there's nothing wrong with the way the company is run, their problem is they always hire incompetents. Of course, their streak of poor hiring just surpassed the 30-year mark!

It's truly laughable. Never before have a seen a more dysfunctional work environment. Sales forecasts pulled out of thin air; corporate policies that make no sense whatsoever; customer service policies that would make one cringe; out-of-touch owners; tyrannical vice presidents. And those are the positive aspects. Throw in racism, sexism, and overall lack of ethics and morality, and it's a real party for all involved. If it wasn't so true and so career-bludgeoning, it would be easier to laugh about.

The turnover in sales is mind-numbing. It's a total revolving door. The VP of Sales (co-owner) literally makes forecasts numbers based on his idea of what a rep should be able to do. The numbers aren't based on any historical reality. The reason is because things are always "about to explode" -- but they never do. There are sales territories that have been steady-- no growth and no decline -- for years and years. But they are still forecast to grow at absurd clips. Why? Because things are just about to break. Hahahaha.

And heaven forbid if a rep actually DOES meet these almost-impossible forecasts! That's when the criteria immediately changes, to make sure that more money isn't actually paid out to the person who earned it. Usually the sales growth is attributed to a change in the market that the rep wasn't actually responsible for. So at the end of the day, this is how it stands -- when sales are poor, it's the rep's fault; when they are strong, it's because of outside factors. So either way, the rep isn't doing his job, and hence not getting the money. Let's get rid of him and bring someone who can meet the Poly standards. One of these decades we may actually find someone who can!

I remember reading these boards before taking my job at Poly. Despite the volume of posts, I still believed (crazy, I know) that most were just the rantings of some people who couldn't cut it at Poly and were simply bitter. I have to say -- the only thing crazier than the stuff you read on these boards is actually living through the experience yourself. The stuff on these boards is child's play compared to the reality of working at Poly. I would suggest you try it -- if you're a masochist. Believe me -- you've never experienced anything like it before, and you never will afterwards.

Very well stated. I too thought it cannot be this bad. I wanted to leave the minute I got into training. It was a weird vibe. I felt like a pending abuse victim or someone inflicted with leaned self-helpless behaviors. Every time the phone rang I swore they were calling to fire me. Eventually, out of the blue, they did at month five with a wife, 2 kids and a mortgage like the rest of the world. It was hard to swallow and really hard to explain what happened when interviewing. Not being negative against this company was hard. "It was not a fit".
Unfortunately, it was not a fit for anyone over 30 years.

In training the secretary would come get the trainer for important phone calls. The calls were reps returning phones that generally ended with a firing. How this side show lasted this long is beyond me. Without a doubt one creepy joint.

I remember driving endless miles and staying in cheap hotels coupled with bad food. This was all done while receiving call daily from my boss to role play and to check on sales Not weekly, DAILY.

You have to know that if the company is that strange it comes from the top. If the company is creepy, just think what the homes of the leadership are like. Dysfunctional would be being kind.
