Pain Management Contract

Let's think about this logically. While there will be primary care call points to see with this drug, why would AZ bring 600 people onboard to have them call on docs who don't prescribe opiates? Say what you want about AZ but they make better decisions than that. There will be plenty of specialists that get seen by PSS.

As for the complaints about the salary, if you have been in the industry long enough to command 70-80K+, why are looking at getting on with a CSO anyway? If the market is bad enough that the only jobs you qualify for are CSO jobs, quit bitching about the salary or move on. Maybe you aren't as valuable as you think you are. No company wants people to work for them thinking they should earn more when they do the same thing as those who make much less. Like it or not, that is what this industry has become.

Equally qualified people making totally disparate ranges of income- brief stay employees that walk soon after starting. I hear you can also be dealt crap and are expected to generate incredible results. Will not apply.

So tell me then, why are pharma resp with years of experienced entitled to a lot more money? You don't sell anything. You know that this stupid job could be done by a 12 year old. So what is the advantage of hiring entitlement thinking, lazy, spoiled, experienced reps at big salaries? Because they know how to fake calls better and know how to touch an iPad faster? Too funny.

Why pay people direct a real salary and expect the CSO rep who may can be more experienced to work for half.? Get real, people need to pay their way in life. There is no entitlement in survival.

It sounds like it will be POD selling. Is that what you were told?
No,its not, just back from interview, maybe a AZ counterpart .300 now and in 6 weeks after iur star another 300,MGR didnt know why and had NOt been trained on product.
Also arrive in Vegas on friday to go throught 2 days of training and AZ certification ...than Launch Party

AZ is known for bad training and contract managers are either young and inexperienced or older and totally out of touch with the hassles of selling. people walk away soon after starting in the job.

I interviewed for the job earlier in the week. The DM was a young girl with these being her first DM position while only being a rep for 7 years. She was nice to speak to but I can't imagine myself working for her when she has never worked in pain market before and I had to educate her on what scheduling of narcotics meant etc. This is a good job if your unemployment is running out or are looking to get your foot in the door. If you are an experienced rep especially in pain this isn't for you the salary is awful. I received an email yesterday from the DM that she wanted to meet me one last time and a possible offer will be made and asked my salary requirements. Instead of emailing back and forth I called her and basically the top end range is between 60-65 I informed her again about my pain experience and my last position I was making 85K with car etc. All of a sudden she gets irate and says " if you don't want to take advantage of this great chance tell me now and I'll just try to find someone else" I sorta chuckled after she said it because she sounded like a whiny school girl instead of a DM after she heard me laugh she said " whatever I'm probably better off without you" and hung up the phone.

That sounds like my experience also applying for the position. The person was clueless and very condescending. The salary is the most horrible I have ever heard of with the experience and education you bring to the table. PSS positions are a revolving door. Everyone leaves or is booted out after a couple months. Not worth the hassle and demeaning interviewing process.

A DM is generally required to have a minimum of 10 years of recent and progressive experience in the field. This means being up to date with the knocking on doors and dealing with BS of lockouts and restrictions. Better candidates have prior management experience, MBAs and masters and established people management skills. Managers in any of these contracts have a tough time getting well experienced people, then face constant fear they'll lose them and blow numbers. These young inexperienced kids may get a tryout as a manager but in reality the experienced reps will be teaching them. I would also question if the school kid level managers have the ability to manage people and be effective in dealing with differing work styles and personalities. Life experience does matter a great deal.
