Pain Management Contract

For the experienced reps who can do the job without much preparation its an insult. Most people I know would need a second job or third job to get by on that. Let them hire inexperienced for this and have the managers pull their hair out with all the months of field training those people will need.

You sit there on you unemployed fat butt then and wait for that big payday that will never come then. The industry has changed dramatically and you are oblivious to that basic fact. Enjoy.

OP is correct! 63K for what pharma reps do is damn good $$. This isn't rocket science or manual labor. I agree, get over yourselves. If you can't make it on $83k (with bonus), you need a serious lifestyle adjustment! Or better yet, go find yourself another industry!

AZ direct starts with 83K salary and adds on 20 or so bonus and a new car....that is 113K minimum and the car.

We do the same work and make so much less. Many reps here probably made that or much before taking the offer here. That can be very tough if you have the same expenses. Its also why so many here have no choice but to make these jobs temporary. If they are the main income producer it can be impossible.

Why on earth would you come here unless you had to? The only logical reasons would be (1) new to pharma hoping to break in; (2) out of work looking to get back in; (3) taking a leap into management and hoping you cut it. The pay is sub-par, as are the benefits. There is no job security. This is a holding place and everyone here is looking either to stay in motion or to bounce to something else when the next better thing comes along.

never take a job more than 10 k less than your highest salary. have self respect, it can be a career destroyer to go backward . you earned it then you deserve the close same or more now.

100% correct.

You should be committed. You're insane.

I agree.
If you do the job the correct way and continually make attempts to talk to these ego driven doctors, then you are underpaid at 63k.

I won't talk to a pharma company unless it is 75k min...and that is because I work it the right way, aggressively.

What pharma. lacks more than anything today is good sales people that are aggressive. I sell devices, and I see so many terrible drug reps...and most offices tell me that about 80-90 percent of the drug reps they see are there for signature. lol.

learn the difference between aggression (major turn off) and assertive (conversation, respectful of the docs time).

NEVER be aggressive with a doctor......you will LOSE business!
Have seen it again and again!

75K is a newbie
85-90K is 8-10 years experience.

Pharma isn't real sales anyway! That's why most device companies won't even talk to a pharma rep.

Then sell devices where you're negotiating thousands and have high stakes. That is where your aggression can work and is expected. The same does not apply in pharma, different sale, very different customer.

What device rep would look at CSO? Most device reps are making 150-200k or more. They would laugh at a yearly take home of anything less than 125k

What is insane is to settle for such low salaries if you have a resume with anything on it. Check it out -secretaries and refuse works both requiring only a HS education pull in more than these jobs. These are temp jobs and people hiring expect you to jump within months.
