P1 just called to say that I'm still being considered.

I have to agree. I was very excited about this opportunity. Now I am feeling very disillusioned. I am beginning to question whether this is the place I want to be, second choice or not. Has anyone gotten a definite "no" since hearing from P1 this week that were still in the running?

I was called 2x letting know I was still in the running but I haven't heard anothing since this Monday. I feel so bad I'm second choice, but they owe me the courtesy to say no,we went with someone else.

Well, I finally received my call letting me know that they are moving forward with another candidate. No call from the hiring manager; just P1 and no feedback or insight for me as to what I might do better in future interviews, which is disappointing after being in this process for almost 3 months. At least I finally know and I can stop obsessing about when I will hear something. Good luck and congratulations to a the new hires!
I'm sorry you didn't get the job. I am sure you were a great candidate. The competition was very tough for these coveted positions. At least you have an answer and can hopefully enjoy your holiday weekend. Good luck!

Did you get that call today?? I'm still waiting to hear back since p1 calling in Monday to tell me I'm in the running still.

Thank you for your kind post; they are few and far between on this site! Have a great weekend and good luck to you as well!

Those who accepted verbal offers were overnighted their offer letters that need to be signed and e-mailed back. Maybe some are still negotiating and others that accepted may still need their background check and references to clear.

I'm sorry for those that are still waiting to hear either way. I hope it works out for those that are truly excited about the opportunity.

Dear Genentech,
Thank you for helping me lose 10 pounds over the past few weeks waiting to hear from you. At least I got something out of this ridiculous process.

Sincerely,
Your second choice

Do you think Friday will be the final day that they will call and let those of us who are still waiting know our fate?? I was called thus week by p1 and informed I was still in the running. I assume I am 2nd choice,so will they give me my no tomorrow?

I have been in the process like the rest of you for weeks. Having read through these posts and listening to all the comments, what we are failing to realize is that this is the same process that any hiring goes through. The difference here is that there were 160 people brought in at the same time for all jobs. When there is one opening, it's still the same. Screening, Phone screen, live interview with a few candidates, then preferred candidate has ref check, salary confirmation, background check, and possible drug screen. The second and third have to wait until the first says yes or no. We are not usually given a hard date for these decisions, but since there were 160 positions to hire for, and this board exists, anxiety was created. I was called Monday, not moving on. Never heard from the manager. Knew I was a last minute entry and didn't want the territory I was being interviewed for in the long run anyway. If you have not heard, you are still a potential hire, but ONLY if negotiations fall through. My advice, assume you are not joining this division, have a great weekend, and if Tuesday comes around and you get a call for any number of reasons to start negotiating, be pleasantly surprised. Life is good.
