Overlay reps

And Adderall XR and Vyvanse have kicked their ass with no POD so what is your point exactly????? Your argument weakens by the minute...

Sorry but not in the pediatric (fastest growing market). That was the point of the question. All of those products are more widely used in that market. Why do you think the doctors think they are safer? And talk about the school day so much? Because they were marketed that way at launch.

Um, so why is the industry pulling away from POD selling? Your argument is weak.....and the fact that you mention MJ in this conversation shows your caliber....

Really? The industry is pulling away from team selling? Maybe you should tell Big pharma that. They ALL still do team selling. The layoffs happen because products lose patents not because they are changing the selling model.

Who is crying? Shire is crying that they can't see top docs enough. That tells me we have stupid, lazy reps. Answer, let's use two reps to do the job of one. Access has deteriorated because too many duplicate reps are calling on same offices.

We'll be bought soon and well all be dumped, so whatever. With what we have to sell and the weak leadership we have, our days are numbered. Team selling isn't going to save us.

In all fairness, the companies that are doing well at team selling also have more than one product in their bag to lead with. Pfizer has as many as 3-4 products in a bag at a time. The rest have at least 2 big name products.

Job Sharing does not increase accountability.
There are mediocre to poor reps and managers everywhere. Shire has these individuals. they can be longtime Shire employees or newer to Shire. Low performing reps previously were only the problem of managers. Now low performing reps are the problem of the reps who have to share a workload with them.

Shire will lose high performing reps who find it unsatisfactory to job share with poor performers.

True.

What world do you live in? It's morons like you that are ruling this company. Team selling is another term for pussies. Remember buddy swimming lessons? The strong carry the weak....ALWAYS!,,,hell, that's why the entire country is going to hell! Time for some good old Darwinism....survival of the fittest........and you know you ain't one of the fittest.

I feel very sorry for your new expansion rep. I would like to think that Shire recruited quality people. The professionalism of the people in my training class compared to the professionalism of the old shire folks complaining on this board says a lot. I understand why you liked having your own territory, but no one has answered how having a partner is penalizing you. You get paid on their calls, they get paid on yours. The customers don't care. Say what you will but if your product is valued they don't care. Access is not a problem for POD reps selling top products. Its only a problem if you are promoting a crap or unused drug.

This posts are stupid. It doesn't matter if you are new shire or old shire. Either way you are now a part of screwed shire. KK and PS are destroying this company and we will be sold off and shown the door soon.

Maybe if my overlay wasn't making up calls and could follow the itinerary we set then I would feel better about it. These were supposed to be experienced reps yet I got one that can't answer a single question and can't even do an itinerary right. So I hear you that some old Shire reps are being crappy but can we agree that there are some new overlays that aren't worth a flip? It takes both reps working together to make this thing work....

Maybe now you can be number one. Unless top 10 is ok with you.

You've completely missed the point. You spouted off about all of these great drugs that are always most prescribed in the top ten then attributed that to POD sales. What you failed to mention because clearly you didn't do your research is Vyvanse is one of those most prescribed top 10 drugs you're describing and it was done with a small sales force and no partners. I am indifferent to having an overlay. Do I want one...no but I don't really have a choice so I'll just make the best of it. The point is you don't need partners to build a successful brand because Vyvanse is one of the Lipitors, Humiras, Abilifys etc you named above and it was done with about 500 reps and not thousands driving the doctors nuts with multiple reps per office. And to the person who mentioned concerta and focalin xr, all of those reps are laid off and gone because their giant sales forces weren't needed anymore thanks to the POD model. And Vyanse and AXR are way more successful drugs and we're all still around thanks to only having 4 or 500 reps and not a big massive pool of warm bodies calling on the same doctors as 2 other reps. The tenure at this company speaks for itself and not having partners has saved our jobs for years. So yeah it makes the sales force a little nervous to go to a POD model and takes a lot of feelings of ownership away. So yeah, people are freaking out a little and don't care for the new model.

These post make me so happy about my overlay rep. I wasn't thrilled about having to share a territory but at least we do get along and work ok together. If a rep can't stick to a simple itinerary then they have no business in sales. I thought we hired experienced POD people for a reason. They if all people should know how to coordinate schedules.

PS and KK goals are to drive sales- pure and simple. We've had good returns with price increases, so I think we get another 6 months or year before FO needs to cut sales heads to make returns for Wall Street and buy more products to fill the pipeline after BED. I don't mind competing or Sunday travel - it's a paycheck not a career.

Exactly! The new model is a big adjustment but I'm open to it-I have no choice. However, in addition to learning my way through this I have this type of partner. It's beyond frustrating - to be honest, I expected more out of an experienced rep with POD selling background. I'm not hard to work with - just do your job and make calls and we are good! So be thankful if you have a good one-it could be worse!!

You have just described my CORE rep. How they ever made it in a solo territory is beyond me. I was excited about working with an experienced rep with lots of tenure and all I can do now is smh.

I think all you territory reps are hating on the Overlay reps because you now know that the days of making up calls and half-assing it are over. You have to actually put in a honest day's work and it really bugs you. People are going to leave the company because it is only a matter of time before they are fired or let go for unethical practices

I agree. I'm banging mine.

This is why its so important to establish a good relationship with your overlay or core rep. Like them or not you need each other. So many want to throw the other under the bus. You can if you want, but it won't turn out well.

Agreed. I can't fucking believe what Shire has come to. Now we have infighting between core reps and overlays. This is exactly why PS and KK could fuck up a one-car funeral. What was a high performing company - that's right PS we always were high performing - is now a laughing stock filled with one distraction after another (bad target lists, maps sent at the very last minute, reorganizations and now these fucking mirror territories) Congratulations FO. Your two assholes have totally managed to fuck up this once proud company.

Keep on fighting reps. Just makes sure you have some energy to enroll in unemployment.

I am use to a solo territory. I am confident in my sales ability and don't care at all about the overlay. I am nice to them and if they need help I am there to help. But I do my own thing. If they want to make calls, great make them. If they don't I don't care. As long as it doesn't effect me and my paycheck I will keep doing what I have always done. No one is forcing you to work together. All you have to do is coordinate your schedule. Big deal.
