$50k.
Medical companies feel that if you are worth your salt - low base pay, high commissions (60ish). Be prepared to leave with a beeper or cellular phone glued to you.
You have to be at EVER case or you make no money. With so many competitors out there, it is very hard to get a hospital to stock your stuff.
No real work/life balance.
If you are single and have no live - go for it.
Serious burn out rate.

You Mentor reps are really stupid. I've been in pharma sales for 8 years and it has been 3 years since I have made less than 110K. And I work about 30 hours a week, no peeper, when I'm off, I'm off.

are you kidding me? whoever is replying does not work for mentor, at least in the aesthetics group. base is significantly higher and comission is MUCH higher. top reps are in the high 200's, $135 is considered a bad year. no pagers any longer, and you are in surgery only when you want to be...mainly as a new rep.

device reps make much more ( well north of 200k) i was a pharm rep (it sucked)
the only people who stay are either lazy or women and want an easy gig so they can have kids
the dudes who stay have little to no ambition and are only one step up from being a starbucks delivery bitch

If you have to work over 60 hrs a week to make above 200k and the pharma rep makes 100k for 30 hrs a week - after taxes the pharma rep is making the same or more per hour than the device rep. You say a male pharma rep has no ambition because he's happy making the same per hr. as you but chooses to spend more time w/ family/friends/hobbies. That's an interesting way you look at life. I guess someone working 120 hrs a week could look at you and say you have no ambition? I say you must not have much of a life outside of work...sad.

Ex-pharma fag, why so hostile towards your old friends. I can understand your frustrations with delivering Starbucks, but if you used it to get in the door and then dropped off samples with no drug talk that is your fuck in lazy-ass fault not the industry. Shitty sales reps are everywhere, just because you make more $$ does not mean you are a good salesman.
PS--Starbucks is so old school. Maybe that is where you hung out, but the happening place now is McDonald's. The coffee is better and I can get a punch card for a free breakfast burrito after 10 purchases. Oh and most device reps don't make north of 200k. Maybe north of 100k
