Oncology being micromanaged to death

In all seriousness, the reason Merck Oncology cannot attract talent is due to the (beyond) primary care approach to field rides. Whether its the manager being up your ass two days a month or a DCO or marketing or someone. Experienced oncology reps from the outside are aware of this and don't want (or need) this. That's why the only people getting hired now are PC reps from Merck. But upper management will not listen to the feedback on this. After many years with Merck oncology, I gave my notice and took a job with another (actually big pharma) company. Now I can breathe.

merck has a way of making the oncology reps turn into arrogant assholes. The ways you talk about your scientific discussions and how you aren’t sales reps, the experience you have doesn't count outside of oncology and how you tell everyone that every other disease state and class of drugs sell themselves. I hate to burst your bubble but you all are just another sales rep and outside of merck or any other division you are doing the same stuff as any other rep. So get off your high horse and respect other people you are not all that. We all sell with efficacy data ie science and we all see medical directors and we all work with managers and marketing. Having 4-8 oncology reps in a territory you better be seeing doctors. Good luck. BTW enjoy the larger bonuses, non scientific commercials, billboards and excessive marketing resources that helps sell Keytruda.

It appears my point is valid, what an a-hole you are and an arrogant prick. Lose many customers with your I’m above other mentality? Reality check yourself so when your face gets slapped you are prepared! People don’t see you are as any different than any other rep, so insult them and yoi insult yourself. Keytruda sells itself, oh wait yiu know the trials and a j-code wow. Fact check this- Layoffs coming to oncology in 2020 because there are too many morons not gaining more access doing the same thing. How bored can you be? Laziest salesforce ever.
