I had a call from the DM last night and received an offer so here are the details. 61k is max pay on this contract, just over 12k is the max bonus and contract runs till Dec 2014. Training starts July 19th and will be for 3 weeks, that's in home and back East. This is expected to be a very tough sell and on avg you will have an overlay team of 3-4 other members. Those were the exact words I was told. I will receive a packet including drug tests early next week. Its a job and I am happy to be employed, not thrilled about it though! I hope this helps.

You just gave yourself away, I will be rescinding your offer very shortly, don't like the position? 1000 people would beg to have this position. Especially the ones who have been unemployed a long time.

Hmm, well my offer was a bit more than that, but it does appear the Ventiv reps for the BMS contract are getting about $10,000 higher offers, plus they receive a fleet vehicle. It's not clear to me why that is the case. I can confirm the other details you stated.

Well, maybe you should work for them. I'll take your spot. Buh Bye.

So true.
I phone interviewed with DM but did not get the opportunity to talk face to face. I have been unemployed for several months and really wanted this opportunity.
Be grateful for what you have. Times are tough

Hilarious, each RSM each called over 40 candidates a piece yesterday to give their stamp of approvals and offers from the DM's so good luck in finding out who I am pal! I am grateful to have this offer but its not a long term solution and the money isn't where I thought it would be especially having 5 years of highly successful big pharma experience! The RSM told me 61k is the max salary nationwide regardless of experience, this is in the contract signed by AZ so if anyone tells you different then they are full of it.

You are not exactly correct on your max but in the ball park. Managers have a pool of money and an average salary range. Everyone will make over 60 but highly unlikely anyone is making over 70. My offer was in the mid 60's. Hell yes I took it. Contracts are the wave of the future. This one will be tough because you will have AZ, BMS, InVentiv and Publicis reps selling the same product to the same call panel, but again, its a job and ill take it. Plus, my car is paid for so the car allowance and the mileage are like an added bonus.

I probably shouldn't be, but am surprised at the attitude of entitlement that some reps have that interviewed for this position.

More than one UNEMPLOYED candidate scoffed at a very fair offer that would pay them 4-5 times what they are currently making with their unemployment, plus benefits of course..

In addition, one would think that it's common sense that someone in an expensive area to live should be paid a few thousand more than someone in an inexpensive area. If you live in an area where you can buy an average home for $150,000 or rent a decent apartment for $1000 a month: someone living where it's 2-3 times that has to be compensated a least a little more. Wouldn't you say? It's called Cost of Living! You really think someone in Small Rural town USA should be paid the same as someone in NYC, DC,San Francisco or San Diego? Get a grip.

It really doesn't matter what you made 5 or 10 years ago, either. Please don't expect that, anymore. Those days are gone, people.

O.k., I'm done venting. :)

If an unemployed person "scoffed" at the offer, it's probably because they has another potential job offer in the hopper. If you're Publicis management, you don't want this person, anyway. This is just a paycheck until they can find something that pays better and may last longer. Who in the world is going to make a career out of this gig?
The best candidate is a seasoned rep in the twilight of their career. They will stick around.

its a freaking 1.5 year contract so who isn't looking for something better? I was offered 61 and I accepted but you better believe I'm looking, I was told 61 was the max

was offered 61k on Friday but I counter offered and waiting for word back, bonus is 12.6k

"counter offered"? What a fucking clown. This is a CSO job dipshit. A temp job at best. PSS is the lowest of the CSO's and won't pay you shit. Dipshits like you are hilarious is your delusional sense of self importance. If you don't take the offer they have a dozen other spoiled unemployed sample droppers and call fakers to take this low rent shit job asshole. lol

First of all when you say contract is the future. This may be true but sadly it marks the end of what was once a great way to make a living and have a career in the pharmaceutical industry. It doesn't matter how you sell perform or whatever you think makes a good salesperson. With pods and having 2 or more people selling to the same customer how does the comany detemine who is responsible for getting the business. Don't even get me started with where those numbers come from. If you are a Publicis rep sit with your Inventiv reps and look at the same customer in the exact same time frame guess what the numbers might be different. Just like you are an employee at will the numbers are something that are created at will as well. It's not your ability that might make you that bonus it is your luck. Yes, you might be out of work and need a job but does it really make sence to think that this is a good way to have a secure future going from one or two years at a time hoping you will pick up with another contract? The companies now a days want box checkers and never more in contract. They need to prove to the parent company that people are making calls. No budget or very little that's because they don't want you to sell. Drop off the samples and check the box. Manangers at contract only do what the parent company tells them to do so to be a mananger you might think you have a nice job at present but then in the end year or two you also will be kicked to the curb. Contract reguardless of who it is with Publicis, Inventiv, Novoquest are all the same. They pray on the people that think this is the only sales job they can get and therefore the salaries have become lower as well as the perks. I for one say no thank you and stick it to the contract companies of this industry. I would perfer to work for someone who respects what I have to offer and can realize the value that I have bring to their organization. The same way that many look at those mall security people as rent a cop, the contract rep has the same meaning only it's rent a rep for a year or two. The box that I am checking is the no thank you when you ask for my best and then offer me hopes and promisses that never go anywhere. If you do choose to pursue a job with one of these companies. Think to yourself do you want to be right back where you started in a year or two with no upward mobility with the company that you gave your all for? We are all better than that part time gig that has lowered the standard of what defines a career. Look for another job that might pay the same or even a little less. When that two years are up you will still have your job and if you do well be appreciated and respected by those around you. Not so in pharma any more. If you ask anyone in the industry if they are happy and like their job. They would be hard pressed to tell you yes. Unless, they are naieve or stupid enough to think that the company cares or even knows who they are rather than employee #999726374.

Absolutely. These hiring managers are idiots if they think their new hires are not going to be looking. The last Publicis rep I worked with lasted about 6 months, then on to a much higher paying position. Can not blame them. The manager, however, was surprised and pissed. What an idiot.

THERE WILL BE NO COUNTER OFFER, BYE BYE NOW

That's true. I countered and all of a sudden the territory wasn't available anymore. I'm thinking that I dodged the bullet on this one. The good news is that when the call from the manager was beeping through, I was on a call about another opportunity that came out of the blue. Everything works out for the best, I don't believe in taking a low offer and pretending that I'm lucky. I have great experience, lots of awards, and an advanced degree. I understand the crazy tight job market and that things in the industry have changed. However there is not only one industry to work in. I hope that the contact works out well for everyone, it's a good drug and the managers seem really nice.

well the counter offer did not work as I was just called and told 61,000 was the max for base pay. I accepted the position anyways see you all at training July 19.now I have to take a drug test today and verify my social security number
