Nuvectra

If Nuvectra is the the thing right now, why are we not seeing it in our facilities? Honestly, its just not out there. It can't be very appealing if it is not winning over customers, and thats the real testament to its effectiveness or appeal. Buying reps with guarantees, works for 12 months. Then reality sets in and after the guarantee runs its course, your back to zero customers but now, without any income
They are starting to kill it in my territory

This is what I have heard a lot in the past 60 days and I would love any other opinions, especially thoughtful ones and not nasty barbs.
1-NVRO- patient outcomes are dissapointing and permanents are worse than trials. The clinical data is highly suspect!! Why is this
2-IPG sucks!! Too much size , charging and heat. They are working on a new smaller one was recently announced
3-patients are not getting good service from reps and reps are leaving.
I see they are adding reps like crazy and am not sure why?
NVTR
1-product is starting to make meaningful inroads in selects markets. I would suggest if your not " seeing it" , it might
be because they are not in your territory.
Docs are loving it as leads are easier to steer reducing procedure times and outcomes have been great!
Again, I welcome comments. Thanks!

Why is there no Nuv in my area?? I heard contrary to your leads info. Difficult to steer and have had defects in tip?? I just don't know because it's nowhere in my territory

1- Nevro has oversold the back pain pitch. Does Nevro work better for back pain? Yes. The problem is that the "back pain" patients in the RCT were not the typical patients we see in the field everyday. They were carefully screened for mechanical pain. So yes, some outcomes have been disappointing, but that doesn't make the data bunk. The RCT is legit and I challenge any other company to do a study with the same level of follow-up and rigor, but that's not going to happen.

2- I've never heard any complaints about implant size or heat.

3- Nevro is probably the most stressful rep job in med device right now. Leadership has made some big promises to Wall Street and there is enormous pressure to deliver. This has resulted in a hiring frenzy to grow the sales force (and replace reps who have left or been fired) and a culture of fear for existing reps. Everyone at Nevro knows a rep that has been fired for missing a quarter. In my opinion, this is not a sustainable strategy for long-term stability in a sales organization.

I haven't seen Nuvectra yet in my territory. They came through and gave some presentations, but nobody was interested. I've heard that the SCS thing is a place holder until they have a sacral nerve stim and DBS.

There is competition everywhere in med device. If your good, you will get paid. Insert a hunter anywhere and watch the numbers go. If your opposed to hard work, competition, and volatility, go open a flower shop. Or...get into the game and figure it out wherever your at.

Thanks for the advice Stryker Rep

Clearly Nuvectra has only made inroads in a limited number of markets (Texas for one) and I generally agree with point number 1 (i'd say the patients were highly "cherry-picked", quite deliberately and skillfully.
2-the battery is 2X the size of NVTR and needs more charging(typically once / day verse 2times a week and I have heard of many heat concerns and even piercing the skin because of this. Id say these are facts.
3-Totally agree! high stress and unrealistic quotas to match Wall Streets lofty targets. Lots are in the penalty box, a few have left and more want to leave.
4-"Virtus", for sacral nerve should be in Europe late this year and domestically in 2018 and DBS is clearly of interest. That said, SCS is a very large market they clearly think they can build a large business in.

Some time ago, they did have a recall where a few leads "slipped". It occurred in very few patients and the FDA has since audited them and put the issue to bed. I don't know your territory but I would be 90%+ of their sales are coming from <10% of the country, so its not at all surprising a lot of reps "aren't seeing it". I have consistently heard the leads are "easy to steer" and, in some cases, reducing procedure times (in the case of trials, meaningfully)

As an aside, I think the Nevro explants in many cases from patients who had great trials and after 6-9 months are experiencing dramatic reductions in pain relief.
