NS Meeting = BS

If you can't come up with more to b about than clothes, something's wrong. What about the rest of this meeting? How about the great speaker who started to list the steps to treating your customer as a person....and then only listed 1). Did he forget what else he was going to say? Nothing beyond 1? How about when he reached the end of his speech and just said ummmm....well, I'm out of time? Yikes, if we're picking on people for their clothes, what about this guy's swop hair do that still wouldn't stay put? What value did you get out of this meeting?

Organization? Content? Clothes? Hair? Whatever! The value of this meeting was less than zero! BM, your debut in front of the troops did not go well!

So, lemme see.....we could have accomplished Veeva training AND pretty much anything of value from the national meeting (the visiting physician discussions) in a day and a half, and done anything extra absolutely required in a conference call. Anybody dare to guess how much money that would have saved?

On top of that, how does having Veeva distinguish us as a top customer value metrics based company from any others, when 6 of the top 10 have it? Yeah, find your place in the line up of sheep.

The visiting physicians were the only piece of value I got from this meeting. They were more informative, motivational and inspirational than any Lilly person I had contact with. Don't get me wrong- seeing old friends was cool, however, I'm deeply concerned about this divisions future. SOS. Send in the National Guard quick! Actually- we need the entire US Army for this mission.

You have to recognize that after being sued a dozen times that the company can not provide anything of substance in semi-public settings like this anymore. It has to be all feel-good stuff and forget the product, sales numbers or science. It's just too risky.

As for NS in general, it is history. The new molecules will never make it to market, (and they know it) so any leaders assigned to this division will be losers that the company doesn't really care about.

The lack of professionalism at this meeting was astonishing. From BM's sexual innuendo when she made an introduction to the heavy drinking going on within some of the districts (after hours). The whole damn thing made us all look like a second rate organization.

NS is bigger all the time. Look at this nugget from today's Wash Post:

In 2010 antipsychotic drugs racked up more than $16 billion in sales, according to IMS Health, a firm that tracks drug trends for the health-care industry. For the past three years they have ranked near or at the top of the best-selling classes of drugs, outstripping antidepressants and sometimes cholesterol medicines. A study published last year found that off-label antipsychotic prescriptions doubled between 1995 and 2008, from 4.4 million to 9 million. And a recent report by pharmacy benefits manager Medco estimated that the prevalence of the drugs’ use among adults ballooned more than 169 percent between 2001 and 2010...

... we are just CRAZY about ANTI PSYCHOTICS aren't YOU?

That is because we are a second rate organization. What were you expecting from a bunch of people whose only job is to run around and try to make it look like they are doing the things that they say they are doing? We are unhappy, unmotivated employees working in a dying profession; all the while trying to convince ourselves that the lie that we live everyday will some day magically get better.

Both of those products will make it to market- none of those products will be marketed by primary care. Neuroscience is actually the bright spot of this company, followed by oncology.

Just one word of advice: Work on your PM for two hours daily, your resume for four, and your networking for another four.

Good luck.

A week later, I still say that BM is a total embarrassment to the NS Division. Not only that, but I could not believe she flashed her sequined posterior to the audience and was totally rude to many of our customers while they aere trying to speak. What a wench!

She is by far one of the worst leaders I have seen walk across the NS stage in years. If this is what the future of this division looks like, I suggest we ALL post for the next available position in our areas.

Can you be more specific about her good qualities, and bad qualities?

At my level, she is highly regarded.

her good.... well it's nice to see a female in a leadership role- unfortunately she's not a qualified one. her e resume is nothing to brag about...

I've been here 10 years and I think she was fine. I actually think all these meetings are a waste of money but I liked this one better then previous meetings. I'm a psych rep though- not sure what went on with the PC reps. I like the fact the meetings arent as structured and full of BS like previous meetings.

To say she is so bad is confusing to me. She definitely isn't worse then Grady. People are so quick to judge. The culture is actually pretty good in NS- the future (at least for PC) not so clear. They let us choose who we are going to call on and how many times without pushing us to increase that number- contrast that with other divisions. Yeah business ownership is a overused term but we are closer to that then before with stupid calls per day and reach/frequency crap.

I also thought that Alzheimer video was out of place. That drug isn't coming and the test that we are hoping for approval in the near future will be small. So basically we watched a video about a rep's father that was afflicted with a horrible disease- what was the point to make us sad? Maybe I missed something but I thought that was the most ridiculous thing at this meeting. The break out sessions always fail to deliver- we have nothing new with our products and haven't for years.

Thank you so much. What is missing is new products. A friend who worked at LRL until moving on to "greener pastures" remarked that many good systems were dismantled over the past decade or so, for example, natural products (which I love his description - is where "privileged structures" come from). But I guess it's the privileged executives this company is concerned with (can you say "Haaaavaaaard" without giggling?)
