NS Meeting = BS

As one of the more tenured sales professionals in attendance in Nashville, I can only say that I was extremely disappointed in this meeting. The poor organization was evident throughout and the value of the meeting content to was nonexistent. The mixed training workshops were not helpful in the least. Does our senior leadership have even a small clue about what we do out here?
It was nice to see top performers being recognized but that was about the only productive part of the meeting. The closing session with Josh Smiley? Ridiculous!
Why would a company that faces the financial challenges that we do waste an enormous sum of money on something with as little value as this meeting?

That was by far the worst meeting Ive been to in my 10+ years in NS. In addition to the complete lack of structure and vision , I can honestly say I have no takeaways or best practices at all. It was also soo evident that PC and Psych should and probably will be dividing. I also feel that BM lacks any talent, sincerity or leadership. And no offense- for what they pay her, she really could use a wardrobe consultant. The general sessions were abysmal and I agree, Josh is very talented, but to even have him here, let alone end the meeting with his "motivational" presentation... REALLY!! I did like the cocktails they provided us throughout the awards night-such a nice gesture!! I'm sure a half day pop meeting would have been sufficient, although that still may have been too much time with the lack of materials we had! I guess the only consistent theme is we continue to be able to wear jeans to these meetings. Jeez- make me dress up again if it means bringing back great value oriented meetings!!

i loved all the new inspirational initiatives and the booths at the expo brought me to tears! the pride and the light my fire booth are giving me so many ideas on how I can change my life. I can't remember anything about the products I'm suppose to promote- Cialis for what?? But I'm much more aware of some cool things available on the loop.

Well as a PC rep I wonder what the hell I am going to be selling once Cymbalta goes generic. According to Smiley, alzh. drug low potential to be approved and mglute and NERI are great but not in PC market so Axiron and Cialis=Men's Health. Are we going to morph into their division and if so, do we need all the reps? Does not make me feel great about Neuro and PC in the future. Psych reps needed but do they need as many?

I think that's ridiculous to judge her by clothes and isn't important at all to this discussion. Who cares? The real point is what a waste of time and resources this meeting was. My time, and their resources. If reps lose their territories to save money when patents expire, I'll be absolutely pissed thinking about the amount of money we spent on plane tickets to Disney and Nashville. If why, how and then what is the focus, apply it to this meeting. I'll have to start with WHY? Just another check the box, have a meeting for the sake of having a meeting meeting. Oh and BTW, have the managers have a meeting to have a meeting. Very poor use of funding.

The lack of enthusiasm from the brand teams- especially Cymbalta was horrific. That team is a disaster. It doesn't look that great when the day of the meeting they remove Todd W brand manager without any reason. He was just put into that role?!?! Seriously WTH is going on? 100% agree with posts- no value at all at this meeting and a huge waste of corporate $$$.

You obviously didn't partake in the after hours 'TEAM building' exercises.

Let's face it, we are in for some lean years in NS. I know it is difficult to come up with new molecules to replace the likes of Zyprexa and Cymbalta but the decisions made on who takes on leadership roles in this division leave me baffled. BM? What in the world did she ever do to somehow be chosen to fill this important job? In the end, I feel that no one at corporate has a freakin clue.

Rumor has it that she was brought thru the ranks by a guy in B2B no longer here - Jack B. Word on the street is that she is incredibly insecure, lacks any talent and is threatened by those around her that are competent. Beware. She is a huge back stabber!! We will be begging that Lilly Canada deliver Mike M back to us on a maple leaf ASAP.

I was disgusted by the way our director put so much pressure on us to wear purple. I think she wore her purple thong she bought in the Phillipines.

And so the dumbing down of corporate Lilly continues at full steam. What a wretched company Lilly has become.

Wearing purple? Really? Do you people like being treated like kindergartners by a director?

Unfortunately , you are all missing the big picture here. Lilly isn't an inclusive company and this initiative was really to encourage the support of diversity - that also includes the fact that we still work for a very generic company. It also really speaks to the support of engagement. Trust me. You can crucify your director, and I know very well who you are all speaking of. Why don't you try working for some of these other idiots? As a long time employee, and the way LLY is headed, CA is well ahead of the curve and has been working hard to improve the corporate culture especially around morale and engagement for years. If wearing purple was your biggest criticism of the meeting then we have far bigger problems. I'm more worried about the content, the lack of effort in planning the meeting, no real discussion on our products and the obvious lack of talent we have in our brand teams and BM. I'll support the wearing of purple ANY day if it means a better work environment and rallying to defend a peer/friend who doesn't feel that they work in a place where they can be safe!

Now THIS is complete bullshit!

Wearing purple was OPTIONAL, a CHOICE. Sitting thru general sessions with Smiley or a speaker on engagement that knew nothing about our company or it's cultural climate was not. Oh yes, or listening to a member of the brand team tell us that we have no real strategy for the next year or even better, the token, here's a new resource- go give it a whirl... yup, those weren't OPTIONAL. You are fighting the wrong battle.
