NO VACATION?!? WHAT THE ACTUAL F**K?!?

Seriously? No freaking vacation from September 20, 2021 through January 31, 2022?!?

Our vacation is part of our benefits package and some us have plans far beyond just having the day after Thanksgiving off and the shutdown week at the end of the year! People have different holidays that they celebrate and many don't fall into the company schedule. Kids are also off from school on different days than the vacation schedule too and some were planning to take vacation around those times.

I always take a least an extra week before or after the shutdown week because of plans to see loved ones near and far or have them visit me.

Is the company going to let us bank all of our vacation days for next year since it won't let us use them? This year I wanted to take more time off between Thanksgiving and Xmas so I saved the days but now I can't and that's wrong on so many levels.

It looks like we are expected to work on f**ckin' Xmas Eve too for f**k's sake!!!

The company truly doesn't care about our lives outside of work!

I'm unhappy about this either. Does anyone know of another pharma company that won't allow employees to take vacation for over four months?

The company better be crystal clear about this forbidden vacation thing during the expansion hiring and I think it needs to be revisited

I do my job well but I enjoy my time off too.

Wow.

This is an immediate red flag to any job seeker. Post covid with numerous people suffering the after effects of mental health challenges, burnout, fatigue and missing loved ones they may not have seen in over a year…I’m wondering what is going on at this organization. (I am not a current employee)

I look forward to taking a week or two off during Thanksgiving time so this is nonsense.

Other companies are going to unlimited vacation policies and Alkermes should do the same. I was with a company that gave bonuses of like $500 or $1000 if employees didn't take off some months but they always allowed the employees to take vacation.

Vacation time is special and needed for us all (especially with the state of the world right now).
 












contact HR…earned vacation can not be legally withheld. If so then contact an attorney. Document and file information from upper management

I thought that there may be some legal issues with this no vacation order but I the fact that vacation is a benefit may be a whole grey area (and a company is allowed to deny an employee vacation).

Use up every vacation day in August and up to September 20. Then, get the ‘flu or COVID’ on the weeks you were planning on taking off. :)

That is actually a very good idea and I was thinking similar thoughts (and others have been too).

I'm not Jewish but related to Jewish people by marriage and I did notice that this zero vacation mandate comes after the high holy days.
 






Email from Ferguson states no vacation. Get ready for the handcuffs and go to work if sick. you have kids that are sick…go to work. A sick family member, they have to take care of themself. Micromanagement, tracking devices on the regionals and all that are underneath. If your sick…prove it. You should go to the hospital ER. Delta….you have kids that are underage…so what. Go check in a hotel and stay separated from them….this is off the chain. Holidays….family coming in? Too bad. You don’t like it….quit and go find another job. What a great time for them to lose employees
 






If home office had their crap together, we would already be into the launch and Ferguson’s directive and concern would be moot. Late October is not the ideal time to launch a new drug….Basic marketing knowledge.

People generally don't want to give up summer vacation time.

A fall launch can work but it won't when you are forcing folks to give up their vacations.

I have plans to travel overseas during the holidays where I will lose a day on each leg if the trip (so I booked my trip for two weeks).

This no vacation stuff better change for the better ASAP because people are pissed And, there better be some nice incentives planned for the launch like a reward trip or something!
